It depends on what type of insulin it is.
In some areas in my hospital we don't keep it in the fridge any longer.
Read the insert in the box or ask your pharmacist.
I would just be sure that you pack it somewhere cool on your journey and not let it get too hot, Most buses are airconditioned now so I would imagine it would be ok.

Hi,
How nice of you to worry about your mom's insulin.
I use two different kinds and never keep my insulin refrigerated. I spoke about this to a drug rep recently. She said that insulin is more sensitive to freezing. Any insulin can be kept at room temp for at least 30 days. Since I use all of mine every month, I don't worry about the temperature.
Now, the blood glucose meters are a different story. They are very temperature sensitive.
Best wishes for your mom.

Well, i have known it has to be in the fridge and what i do when i travel is to put it inside a thermo with some ice. the insulin doesn't get frozen and it keeps , of course ,cool. Recently i made a trip of 14 hours by car, so every once in a while i stopped to change the ice cubes and it was o.k.

it shouldn't. you can either go to the Doctor or a health supply store, and you can get insulated bags to keep insulin cold while traveling.
