Diabetes mellitus is currently a chronic disease, without a cure, and medical emphasis must necessarily be on managing/avoiding possible short-term as well as long-term diabetes-related problems. There is an exceptionally important role for patient education, dietetic support, sensible exercise, self glucose monitoring, with the goal of keeping both short-term blood glucose levels, and long term levels as well, within acceptable bounds. Careful control is needed to reduce the risk of long term complications. This can be achieved with combinations of diet, exercise and weight loss (type 2), various oral diabetic drugs (type 2 only), and insulin use (type 1 and increasingly for type 2 not responding to oral medication). In addition, given the associated higher risks of cardiovascular disease, lifestyle modifications should be undertaken to control blood pressure[20] and cholesterol by exercising more, smoking cessation, consuming an appropriate diet, wearing diabetic socks, and if necessary, taking any of several drugs to reduce pressure.
In countries using a general practitioner system, such as the United Kingdom, care may take place mainly outside hospitals, with hospital-based specialist care used only in case of complications, difficult blood sugar control, or research projects. In other circumstances, general practitioners and specialists share care of a patient in a team approach. Optometrists, podiatrists/chiropodists, dietitians, physiotherapists, clinical nurse specialists (eg, Certified Diabetes Educators), or nurse practitioners may jointly provide multidisciplinary expertise. In countries where patients must provide their own health care, the impact of out-of-pocket costs of diabetic care can be high. In addition to the medications and supplies needed, patients are often advised to receive regular consultation from a physician (eg, at least every three months).

yes know this is disrupting. it was for me also i nearly thought i was going to die. the first few mos i would go to the store and read every label and nearly flip. well anyhow to make long story short. first of all you can eat peanut and jelly for your sweet tooth and it does help. don't pick out diabetic jelly as its more expensive and you will find the brands that you are like less sugar then the other ones for daibetics. also you can eat veggies all thet ime being careful not to get stupid, also meat that is grilled or boiled you can fry now and then but fish is main stay if you like fish you are really lucky. lots of fruit not juices high in sugar. now you do keep frozen orange jucie around in case you go too low this will be fastest thing to put it up and you could use spoon sugar in it also. it makes it come up fast. actually they say eat 6 tiny meals space it our during the day or you can eat 3 meals but not as much and you can lose weight by doing this. its very easy you won't believe it. just keep watching and check your blood every ay 3 times during the day and when you can by 3am cause that is when it goes way up. take care and good luck

Don't listen to anyone who has the answer in a few sentences or paragraphs.
You need to assemble a health care team around you.
You, of course are in charge of the team.
Get a great endocrinologist [ not a gp], a dietitian and a diabetes educator.
Read everything you can.Subscribe to diabetes magazines and keep up on the topic.
It is hard work and there is no quick answer.

It is passed down although you can learn to control it. Start a walking program, 1/2 hr a day and build up to 1 hr a day. Check for a diet some 1800 calories a day and stick to it. There are foods that help, roots of the sunflower (Jerusalem artichoke). Cinnamon is good. check with your local health food supplier.

First of all dont be nervous that you're not married .. for many of the people out there its a coooool fact in their lives that they're not married.. Because they have their freedom.. You are young and you should live your life with a positive attitude. About diabetes .. not a big deal keep your diet regular and go according to your doctor.. Keeping your mental health well will give good results to your medications... Be positive and get going.. You're feeling fresh and Happpier.... Smiles for you

my mother has diabetes also you should exercise and eat right diet is the biggest part in keeping diabetes under control and if your on medication please don,t miss any doses as it can be dangerous and i suggest you join a support group and sign up for all the latest information on diabetes you can do this on line and whatever you do please don,t drink acholoc can be toxic it sent a friend of mine into a diabetic coma and unfortunately he didn,t make it i wish you the best of luck!

You aren't giving enough information to answer that question. Are you on insulin? Pills? Diet controlled? You need to educate yourself. See a dietician on proper diet. Go to a diabetes educator for other important information.

u r diabetes person and u want some advise ok. i give some advise that first u walking daily 2or3 kilometer and u dont eat rice and sweet and most important advice u dont take any tension on your mind and u face that no prob your life

Well,my grandma has Diabetes,and she takes pills,MANY MANY pills,and when she takes them,it seems like she doesnt even have it.Get subscriptions from doctors.
