after my wife died, I've had trouble keeping my house clean - and yesterday my dog died of pneumonia that she got suddenly - and I'm pretty scared that something is in the air in my house that caused it from my house being messy. Since she died, I'm really afraid to spend time in my house since I think the air could be bad and I don't want to get a respritory problem. how would I know if the air was ok or not?

am I over reacting? she was almost 15 which is old, but she was exceptionally healthy - she was walkikng 45 minutes a day up until a few days before she died. She got pneumonia suddenly
I don't understand and that's why I'm scared.

thanks

I don't think you need to worry about something in your house giving your dog pneumonia. Fifteen is pretty old for most dog breeds. Even though your dog seemed healthy, she could have had a lot of health problems that old animals (including humans) get. My dog died at age 14 of congestive heart failure. He had been to the vet a couple of months before he died and did not have any problems. Two days before he died, he just got very ill. Maybe you should look into having someone help with cleaning. Even if they only come once a week, it could help.

Ok. First, relax. I doubt very much there is anything wrong with your air. I think your worry stems more from grief of losing your wife and now your dog.
To keep your house clean, try getting into a routine, you dont have to do all the house every day. Work out a daily program where you spend an hour or so doing a different part of the house every day. Before long, it will all be clean and you'll be able to keep it that way without too much effort.
Your grief, I think you need to talk to someone. Men see grieving as weakness generally, and therefore, keep it all inside which is what causes health problems.
Good luck, I hope you find the peace of mind you need.

I am sure that your dog probably just developed a sudden problem because of age. Could have been congestive heart failure that could have been the cause of the pneumonia. I would suggest that you clean your home well -- for your own peace of mind. Especially if you have had a dog, pet hair might be a problem and can be an allergin. Have you thought of hiring a maid service?

ummm well if you are serious then you shouldn't be scared. You can get pneumonia even if you lead a healthly life style. Sometimes it just happens. Clean your house, open a few windows and don't be wo worried about it.
