it seems like the real reason that people try to convince vegetarians to eat meat is to try to make themselves believe that its ok, when deep down, they know it isn't. When someone doesn't eat meat, it reminds them of the possibility that eating meat is wrong, and try to make themselves feel better by convincing you to eat meat too. The thing is, you KNOW its wrong. You have already made your decision to do what is right. Don't stray from it.

Sure you can have kids if you're vegetarian. I know some vegetarian women who began having kids *years* after they stopped eating meat, most have been lacto-veg but a couple have been vegan. The kids were raised vegetarian but allowed to decide for themselves whether they wanted to eat meat, usually during elementary school. Some kids chose to eat meat like their friends (1 returned to being veg during his teenage years), some have never eaten meat & don't intend to. I've never heard of anyone's Dr., O.B., pediatrician or any health care provider trying to talk any of these women out of being veg, & they've been supportive of the kids being veg, too. Don't forget that in some cultures & some religions ppl go through their lives without ever tasting meat, this includes women during their child-bearing years.
When I was old enough to understand where meat comes from, I didn't want to eat it anymore but my mom insisted that *everybody* eats meat & if they don't they "get sick & die." To this day I don't know if she was actually that misinformed or if she had been trying to control me through fear.
If you want to be vegetarian & your family is truly worried about your health, calmly talk to them & show them books, websites or other data that will give them the facts about being vegetarian so they (and you) can relax. I wouldn't do this during a party, but during regular conversations with various family members. Good luck.

If you're craving meat, that might mean that you're not getting enough of something, like protein. Maybe take a look at your diet and make sure it's well-balanced to off-set these cravings.
And no, it will no affect your ability to have children. Maybe if you were malnourished to the point of amenorrhea, but I think you'd know something was drastically wrong by that point.

little thing, dont you worry. stick to your gut, your gut does not want meat. every time you want your meat, think about what the animal has been through! how could you even consider eating that greasy, rancid, rotting corpse?
oh yeah, you are not going to die, and you can still have kids. just make sure you are getting protein somewhere else. (i.e. soy milk, fake meats, beans, tofu, nuts, nut butters, and leafy greens). mm

Um, why can't you eat it?
I don't get why some people deny themselves certain foods. Like meat, for example. If you want it, eat it. Everything in moderation.
I personally don't eat red meat. I just never have and in fact I was a vegetarian until the age of like 4. Around 4 I started eating chicken, and as I got older I started to love seafood. Since I've never had red meat/anything besides chicken and seafood (occasionally turkey or duck) the smell and look sort of repulse me and I have no desire to put it in my mouth.
The point is, humans are naturally omnivores and it's completely natural to crave meat. Protein; duh.
As long as you're not eating red meat like every single day you'll be fine. And buy organic meats that come from places where the cows are fed well and in good living situations. Otherwise you're supporting a horrible animal abusing industry and on top of that you're eating meat tainted with the disgusting things these poor cows are forced to ingest.

I know how that feels I have/had the same problem! Just don't give in and after a while the cravings will basically go away. Good Luck=D.

and when they want you to jump off a bridge?
If you want it then eat it. Then you will be satisfied. It's okay to eat it, whatever you think is good for you is what matters. You are your own boss. Surrendering to the majority is something personal. Nobody can make you do this. And if you want to have it on occasion it's okay. There is only one judge. The goddess in YOU.
