If you are talking about an alcoholic beverage, proper etiquette says: red wine with red meat and white wine with fish or poultry. If your question is geared towards non-alcoholic: water, milk, iced tea or juice. Soft drinks are only okay of it is with pizza or fast food. Actually, health wise, you should not drink anything while you are eating as your own acids are suppose to digest your food and too much liquid during your meal can contribute to acid reflux.

If it's just a regular family weeknight meal I have water or iced tea. For a dinner party or dinner out I have wine.

It depends on what and where I'm eating. If I go out to a restaurant I like to drink White Zinfandel, if I'm home I like flavored seltzer or ice-tea. Sometimes if my girl cooks we'll have some White Zinfandel with our dinner and follow it up with tea and coffee (I like tea, she likes coffee).
