i think you should see a doctor if you suspect that you have the illness. it is dangerous , it can cause serious damage to your health... it can cause your sugar level to go down or up... it can cause blockouts and even worst. some medications are expensive while some are not

I am sorry for you. But since you don't know if you are diabetic. The best way to find out is to go and see a doctor and get tested. Otherwise, you are just worrying for nothing.
How old are you? It sounds like if you do develop diabetes, it would be type 2 diabetes. For some people, it can be controlled with diet (food you eat) and exercise. For others, medicine is needed. There are two kinds. For some they can controll it with a tablet to take by mouth. For others, it would be insulin and it can only be taken by needles.
I only had gestational diabetes (diabetes during pregnancy). I had to use the test strips and use insulin too for the last 2 months of my pregnancy. Yes, it did hurt but then, I am a big baby!! :)
Any way, good luck to you. Please find the answers. If you do have it, learn about it and learn how you can deal with it so you can live a long, healthy life. It is possible.

It can be done but it requires a lot of discipline and a rigorous diet plan which you follow to the dot. I met a woman who does just that, and she is doing fine.
If you cannot afford the test or medication: have you ever considered checking into the programs your state's department of health offers to the uninsured and underinsured? I am pretty sure that you will be able to get treatment.
There is also a natural way to beat diabetes, but it will cost initially, until you have it under control and can go down to a maintaining stage with taking a lower dosis, and it varies from individual to individual on how long it takes to get to that point. It's called glyconutrients and they really do work, I just got the news from my fiance that he is off the insulin because his sugar levels are so good that there is no need for medication(there are other ailments with the diabetes that also got under control-meaning the conditions improved dramatically). It's called Advanced Ambrotose Complex and he orders it from this site:

I don't know the details of your medical system, so I can't answer that. Your doctor should be able to order the tests.
Diabetes doesn't hurt, though the fingerpricking and insulin (if you need it) aren't so much fun. More annoying than painful, however.
Many diabetics live without medication. I had gestational diabetes and managed to control it by diet. This depends how severe it is, how sensible you are about sticking to the appropriate diet (if diagnosed, you really really should see a dietician and learn how to eat properly) and how early it's been diagnosed.
There are many, many side affects of badly managed diabetes. You don't want them. A short chat with Google will convince you of that, I'm sure.
Most definately get yourself tested.

Common symptoms are fruity breath. Without actually having your blood tested by the strip test method you cant really tell. But if you suspect you do have diabetes you should be interested in caring for yourself. Diabetes may seem not to do any harm in the beginning but can lead to many future problems like amputation of toes, feet, legs, blindness, kidney failure, heart disease, attacks, strokes etc. The list is endless and it will happen to a degree to all those that have diabetes. Give up some luxuries and go get medically tested.

Diabete's hurts mentally and physically, It is a big step if your not used to dieting and being diabetic. And also if you don't take care of yourself you can have alot of physical problems, as an exsample im only 13 and as a result of poor diabetic care i went from 20/20 vision to needing glasses. Also if you take Insulin take the needles hurt, but you do get used to it quickly and it stop's hurting :). Im sorry that you may be it and not having enough money but im sure theres a health plan you can get to cover it :) and no, if your diabetic without medication, you will die without it im sorry to say. Hope i could help :)

I'm a type 1 diabetes, I found out about it at school, and since then I never check my blood sugar level or run tests. I only plan my meal, I don't eat food which obviously contain sugar, I excercise more than I did before, and I eat a lot of fruits (avoid fruits like durian, mango, banana, but you still can eat them but not so many of them) and vegetables. Be more selective in choosing your food, read the nutrition facts and ingredients in foods. Artificial sweeterners like sorbitol, maltitol (from alchohol) could increase your blood sugar slightly and Acetasulfame-K such as in Splenda, equal is more safe.
So far, diabetes haven't hurt me, If i eat a lot of white rice, I feel dizzy sometimes, and I feel sleepy a lot. Be careful when your blood sugar level is high, do not hurt your feet (it could have infection and have it amputated because a diabetic person tends to have an infection), do not have a tattoo (some of diabetic person have tattoos, but they do consult to their doctors, so if you're planning not to contact any doctors better not to have any tattoos)

Go to County hospital and they will help you for free. The blood/sugar test takes only a minute. The first sign is that you are tired all the time. You might not need medication if you can just stop eating ALL sugar, including fruit. Soda is very bad but diet soda is OK.
