I read an article that aspirin can prevent heart disease, but then I read another article that says it may cause side effects such as abdominal pain, bleeding and ulcers — especially if taken in large doses or for a long period of time.

You could rinse your sinuses if you have a little teapot. Fill it with room temp water and add a little salt and a little baking soda (just a pinch each). Stir to dissolve. Hang your face over the sink, tip your head to the left, put the teapot's spout on your right nostril and let the water run through from there till it comes out the left nostril. Then do the other side. There is something called a neti pot that people with allergies often use, and a small teapot really will do the same thing. The aspirin isn't going to hurt anything, but I'm sure it feels uncomfortable.

Aspirin is good for the heart at a dose of 75mg or "one a day", if taken after or during meal, it will virtually causes non of the above symptoms.
Abdominal pain, bleeding and ulcers do occur when taken on empty stomach, without proper dissolving in water.
The rest of the author's comments is agreed, but he forgot to mention about "Aspirin Allergy".
REMEMBER THAT ASPIRIN IS 500 TIMES MORE POTENT THAN HEPARIN AND SHOULD BE STOPPED/ DISCONTINUED BEFORE DENTAL EXTRACTION OR ANY OPERATION AS IT CAUSE SEVERE BLEEDING
Hope answered your question.

My boyfriend recently broke his leg and after hours in the emergency room he was finally given something for the pain. We asked what he could take at home, and the response was actually shocking. She said that under no circumstances should someone under 50 being taking aspirin. She said the research is saying that aspirin should only be used for heart attack prevention and not pain. She said that it is hard on the system and can cause Reyes in not only children but adults as well. News to me.

Stick with Tylenol or Advil... but do not overdue it. Both are very hard on the liver and kidneys.

Ibuprofen taken in excess is hard on the liver. So is Tylenol. I don't recall reading anything that says asprin will prevent heart disease. It does inhibit clotting which causes heart attacks. If you're going to take it as preventative measures, take one baby asprin every evening.

yes, asprin can be very hard on the stomach. the asprin given to heart patients is enteric coated and a lower dose. the coating helps it pass the stomach and break down in the intestine to help prevent damage to the stomach.

Pure Aspirin can destroy your liver. The best thing to take is ibuprofen. Everything in your question is true..so be careful if you take it. Again, I recommend just taking ibuprofen.
