watch your cholesterol intake.. such as eggs and cheese.. 1 egg = 215 mg cholesterol.. 2 eggs is more than the amount you should eat daily..

also, try taking fish oil capsules, they help lower cholesterol and so does oatmeal.

There are several things you can do.
1st and most important: cut out all sodas especially diet. and replace it with Spring Water.. Not TAP. Some chemicals that are contained in both items here cause scaring in your arteries which lead to build up of plaque which is caused by cholesterol and the cholesterol is not leaving your system fast enough.

2. increase fiber intake. You need about 25 grams of fiber a day. But when you increase your fiber you must also increase water intake too. Otherwise the fiber just binds up and you will have bowel movement problems and gas. You need aboput 64 oz of water a day, which is only 4 bottles of water..not that hard to consume.

3. Oats are a great way to lower. And you can consume them in MANY ways. Oatmeal if you like, granola bars, Cheerio's. Oat grain breads, I personally have stopped using white flower and started using oat flour in its place whenever I am fixing anything that needs flour. Which is another good point AVOID items containing white flour!

There are also many herbs and supplements that will help as well.
But the things I mentioned above are easy things to change and do on a daily basis.
Good Luck!

Exercise, eat healthy foods like oatmeal, walnuts, flax seed, pomegranates, salmon, dark greens. Drink water - Not sodas. Avoid animal fats or at the least limit your intake of beef and pork. Look at Nutrition Labels and avoid processed foods with trans fatty acids, hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil. Use Walnut, Olive, Peanut or Sunflower Oil. Do not use Shortening, regular margarine, non dairy creamer, and regular commercial baked goods. Review Healthcastle.com and Webmd.com they both have great ideas
for kitchen makeovers and snack ideas. Also remember there is no overnight fix and it is a process of change. You want to Raise your HDL (good cholesterol) while lowering your LDL (bad cholesterol). So look at the myths and don't be discouraged there are still good foods that you can eat and enjoy in modifications. Portion size is important.

Follow the advice of your medical professional, eat right, take your med's, and exercise. No real trick to it, just the same old stuff...but it works! Add to the above a support group of folks like you who are trying to achieve the same goals and you'll be more likely to meet the goals!
