Cinnamon doesn't work FAST enough to provide any significant help for a TYPE 2 Diabetics, and it should NEVER be used for a TYPE 1. ALL such "homeopathic" remedies work too slowly and in too little increments to be useful for some one wh ALREADY HAS diabetes. CInnamon (and sometime Chromium Picolinate) work for someone who has NORMAL blood sugar levels. Cinnamon and such will help regulate blood sugar in normal people. But when you already have diabetes, the difference to too large fo homeopathic remedies to control. With Type 2 diabetes you MUST seek some serious medical help, preferably in the form of an ENDOCRINOLOGIST -- a doctor who specializes in disease like diabetes. All those institute you mention are under control of the USDA -- The United States Department of Agriculture. The same people who tell you is your beef, chicken and pork is of high quality. Their ratings mean NOTHING to the medical world! They may be able to tell that a food is healthy (not dangerous) but they have NO authority over medical claims. Medicine and medical treatments are controlled by the FDA -- The Food and Drug Administration. THOSE are the ratings you want to listen to. But the FDA does not control "natural" products like vitamins and herbal remedies. Therefore, the claims for such products are NOT regulated by the government, and you simply cannot be sure of what you are getting. DO NOT even begin to think that Cinnamon will work for Type 2 Diabetes. It does not. it works as a regulator ONLY for patients with NORMAL blood sugar levels.

Haven't tried Cinnamon, but from all the great comments about it I might as well. My mom is a type 1 diabetic, what we found that really works for lowering her blood sugar is boiling loquat leafs. boil 3 cups of water, with five tender green leafs for about 15 minutes, till the water turns a little green. We have a tree but I think you can buy the tea at a health food store. My grandma learned this recipe from a little old Indian lady.

Cinnamon has been known to temper the 'sugar spike' that happens when you eat. It, alone, cannot lower blood sugar to the point where you can get off of meds.
Your best bet is to eat nutritious meals - fiber, fiber, fiber! Consult with a nutrionist to get a meal plan that works for your husband and good luck!

Absolutely! Cinnamon is one of the most common and popular of all of the blood sugar health products. There's also Fenugreek seed, Momordica fruit, Mulberry leaf, Gymnema Sylvestre, Vanadium, N-Acetyl Cysteine, and Alpha Lipoic Acid that are all very popular for blood sugar support. With any and all of these, it's important to talk to a doctor that knows about supplements to see if they would be safe or overly effective for a diabetic. If nothing else, just to make sure that your husband won't get TOO much of a benefit from them, which may throw his blood sugar too much the other way (which seldom happens... but with something that serious, it's better to be safe than sorry).
There's also Chromium, but that may affect insulin sensitivity, so it's more important to check with a doctor about that one first.
