My husband and I are having an anniversary party in a few weeks, and we have invited about 25 people. A couple of those invited may bring girlfriends who are underage, not by much, but yet still underage.

While it won't be an issue to be sure they aren't drinking, should we just avoid serving wine or champagne altogether? I don't really want anyone to have to be policing the party.

On a side note, when we were getting married, my in-laws offered to host our rehearsal dinner, but wouldn't allow alcohol. We ended up having it at a restaurant instead. They gave us a similar option for our engagement party, but we wanted a wine & cheese party, so we had it at my matron of honor's home instead.

What are your thoughts? It's not as if anyone is going to get sloshed, but I would really like to toast to my anniversary with a glass of wine or champagne.

You should definitely serve wine and/or champagne. I would serve both. It's your party and you shouldn't worry about the underage guests. Get some sparkling cider and they can use that to toast.

your anniversary is about what you want. If you want to serve wine and champagne go for it. I'm sure the people there who can not drink legally will respect that fact if you simply ask them to. Maybe try to work the fact that they can't drink into a joke or something to lighten the mood a little, but still get your point across.

i would serve alcohol. you said they are underage but not by much, so i wouldn't stress about it if i were you. it's not like there would be a bunch of young kids running around getting wasted. i know that when i was slightly underage ;) i liked to have some drinks with friends. most people do like to drink at special occasions so i would serve the alcohol. don't stress... just have fun!

It's your day. The parents should be watching the underaged, not you. And if you don't deliberately serve them and they sneak it, that's the parents' fault, not yours. And make sure the kiddos go home with their parents if you have the slightest inkling that they sneaked some booze. And tell the parents.

It's a pain to babysit, but you don't want an officer at your door. But happy anniversary!

Have the wine/champagne...too hard to get messed up on the stuff, plus it's an unique taste...most if they don;t already drink it won't start that night

have the party with out the wine and then afterwards when it's just you and hubby a bottle of wine, lit candles and some soft music would be the perfect way to end th day and to celebrate.

It is YOUR celebration, and if you want to serve alcohol, that is your choice. I, personally, absolutely WOULD...but that's me. If this is at your house, just be careful of who is driving - that would be my biggest concern. Have fun and have the party the way you want to have the party.
