if u have herpes can if spread all over u body?
BY TOUCHING your self when u shower and then touching another spot?..or can you only get herpes from sex or oral? Im so confused PLEASE HELP!

You can get it wherever the infected persons privates touch you. You can get it in your mouth if you perform oral sex. I know someone that has outbreaks on their thigh.

I've had herpes for a very long time and I was always told that if I touched the spot, then touched another mucous membrane (eyes, ears, nose, etc) that it would go there too. It's never happened. Recently my friend, who is a nurse, told me that almost everyone has herpes and it's just a matter of if they get outbreaks or not. She said it can be spread by simple skin contact (there are mucous membranes in your skin too!). I have always only gotten outbreaks inside my mouth. Herpes is a tricky virus. There are a few different strains of it, which have different types of tissue they infect. For the most part, they go for the skin around the genitals and mucous membranes (present in the mouth, nose, etc.).
