HPV (the virus that causes genital warts) can be spread by sex (vaginal, oral, and anal) and by DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area.

Even if there are no physical warts present it is STILL possible to spread the virus (HPV). Since HPV is a virus and there is no cure for HPV the person will always have it. Most women however, are able to get rid of the virus. Their bodies can basically "fight it off". Some women will NEVER be able to get rid of the virus though, because there are no cures for viruses.

Condoms HELP prevent the spread of STDs, including HPV, but condoms are NOT 100% effective. The only thing that is 100% effective is abstinence.

You referred to the HPV injections as a jab, so I will assume you are in the UK. If this is correct the HPV vaccine of choice in the UK is Cervarix. Cervarix prevents two high risk HPV types 16 and 18. Cervarix does not prevent any low risk HPV types. Low risk HPV types 6 and 11 cause 90% of all visible genital warts. The vaccine most commonly used in the US is Gardasil and it does prevent the two low risk HPV types 6 and 11. Many other HPV types can cause visible external warts. They are 40 genital HPV types neither vaccine prevents all genital HPV types. Try to get the courage to go to a clinic and get the bumps diagnosed and treated if needed. It will make you feel better. Many men and women do acquire an HPV type or two with their first sex partner.

Exactly, don't have sex. The person who has genital warts can give you the virus and they may or may not get the warts. I have HPV which means I have been in contact with someone with the warts, but I have not gotten them in the 10 years I have had the HPV. I have a higher risk at getting cervical cancer.

HPV is spread through skin to skin contact. Condoms can help prevent the risk of contraction, but its still not 100%.
