first off asthma is one thing, and the symptoms you suggest are typical of asthma, especially with the heat and humidity. now the infection, well you just answered yourself when you said "undiagnosed lung infection". there isn't any diagnosis termed lung infection, as that is to generalized. there are many infections of the lung, but just which one you "might" have is why we get diagnosed by a doctor. you may not have an infection as such at all, you might have atelectasis due to mucus impaction from ashtma; you might have raging bronchitis of the airways. so really i'd see a doctor if these things are present and bothersome: 1. fever >100 unresponsive to aspirin/tylenol, 2. shakes and chills, 3. loss of apetite, diarrhea, and losing weight, 4. irregular heart rate, or a sustained heart rate >100 beats per minute, 5. chest pain, not sore throat from coughing or a rib splint but a serious chest pain feeling when breathing in or out, 6. shortness of breath just getting up and walking to the kitchen
thats just a few indicators that something serious could be going on. blood tests and xrays would be the order of the day.

If you have asthma you will be more prone to chest infection and should always go to the doctor. A chest infection won't clear up you need to get something for it.

I'm wondering why you haven't been to a doctor before now? A chest infection won't just 'clear up' without antibiotics. Go and see your doctor and in the meantime, double your dose of your brown inhaler (Becotide) and do steam inhalations to try and clear some of the gunk from your airways.

It can not only cause an asthma attack, it can develop into some really nasty things too. SOme of which can kill you, or damage your already fragile lungs. Get in to see the doc, and don't delay. You may need some antibiotics .
