I know you probably asked the question because you want other people's opinions, but my first answer will be choose what you truly want.

If it were me, I wouldn't get the bag (although I don't know what a bag is good for, but to carry stuff around, which is probably because I'm a boy :D), but mainly because that small amount of leather is still a part of an animal and since I'm a vegetarian myself, I'd hate to see poor defenseless animals being murdered to become material possessions. What else that makes it worse to own something with animal remains is how they kill the animal to get the leather. Animals have emotions and can feel pain too so here's a video on how they how they do that but if you don't want to see it that's fine because it's very, very unsettling:

I hope you find my answer helpful :)

It doesn't depend on whether or not you call yourself or others call you a vegetarian, whatever the "rules" are. There are no rules. It just depends on how you will feel every day using that purse or bag and thinking about whether you feel comfortable supporting the meat industry. If you are vegetarian solely for health reasons then I guess it won't be an issue for you. I buy leather shoes on the rare occasion if it is something really special or I am desperate - and feel a need to think about it when I do - but I am more likely to buy shoes that are not made out of leather. If I do buy leather shoes they will be high quality, long lasting and practical shoes, not just fashion accessories.I don't think I'd ever buy a leather bag or purse as those sorts of accessories are more decadent than shoes and there are more good fashionable non-leather options available. I don't know what a coach bag is but if it is something very practical that you will get a lot of use out of for a long time then it may be worth it in the balance of things. It's your karma and your decision alone and no one should tell you that you "can't" buy it :)

Personally, i would go for it. I'm not vegetarian myself, but at least five of my close friends are, including one vegan, and I've seen them miss out on alot because of it. If you really want the purse, then I say more power to ya. But what it all comes down to is what you're morally willing to do. Which is more important to you personally - the purse, or your love of animals? In all honesty, I love animals as much as the next person, but you only live once, and the animal whose hide is on that purse is long gone. Live your life. You won't go to hell for a purse, i promise. :)
AND if you do get the purse, and still aren't sure about it, keep the receipt and tags, and let the purse stay in your room/house a while. if having it bugs you, take it back! just make sure you haven't used/abused it, and they'll take it back in a heartbeat. You'll regret it even more if you never even try.

I can't answer that for you. You have to go with what your conscience says, and it sounds as if you are in quite a struggle. Really, I thought Coach bags were all leather; I didn't know they had nonleather varieties with just a small amount.

Mat & Nat makes some nice stylish vegan purses. Maybe you could check them out and see if there is a design you like. www.alternativeoutfitters.com and www.mooshoes.com also have vegan bags that might be stylish for you.

If your a vegentarian I would say no that would ruin your vegentarian thing because a vegan is not supposed to have any leather or meat. If I got something that was leather I would think of the poor animals that are dying for no reason.

I am vegetarian and sometimes I end up with stuff that has cow skin on it. I use it because why should I waste a life? But I never buy it because it supports killing.

However, I do play a sacred drum called mrdunga, which is made with the skin of an old cow that died naturally.

Just because you're a vegetarian, doesn't mean that you have reject everything that's made out of an animal. If you want a Coach purse and you've saved up for it, buy it! Being a vegetarian means not EATING any kind of meat, not BUYING anything that's made out an animal. Just buy it. You'll feel better and you'll have something great to show off to your friends! Buy it!

Depends how dedicated you're going to be to saving animal life. No offense meant to any vegetarian, I don't see why people won't eat animals. Cows, pigs, and chickens are raised just so people can eat them.... if people didn't want to eat them, I doubt they would still be around. But if you really want one, I don't see why you can't have one. The cows are already used to eat, at least by using the hide for a purse, they aren't being wasted, right?

If you're a true vegan then no, but you have to act on your own moral compass, not someone else's.
