Wow, that is one complicated 1st answer you got.
Take it out of the package and squeeze it between a few layers of paper towels to remove the water. Cut it into cubes. Fry it in some oil, then toss it with some fried rice, soy sauce, and peas. Yum!

Here's a simple one that many people like (at least it's gotten me best answer on this forum several times already)

DRAIN ALL THE WATER OFF the tofu as well as you can

Crumble it up (you can mash with a fork) so it looks like feta chese

PUt in a non-stick skillet (a little oil is optional)

Add black pepper, a vegetarian "poultry flavor" seasoning, Nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, and a couple dashes of soy sauce. Salt is not needed (Trust me) if you use soysauce and poultry seasoning. At least wait till it's totally done to judge if it needs salt.

Let it simmer on medium until all extra moisture is gone, and the tofu has lost that "raw" look.

Then add a little salsa and/or diced tomato. Let cook a few more minutes. Take off heat

Eat with tortillas and a little sour cream and more salsa.

Yum!! One of my favorite breakfasts!

Tofu prep varies considering that it absorbs whatever flavor it is marinated in. I suggest that you search online for a number of the rather tasty Asian dishes.

I once mixed Tofu with left over spring roll mix, which included: carrots, soy sauce, five spice seasoning, cabbage, garlic, bean sprouts and brown rice... it was amazing.

I put it in the oven and baked it until brown... delicious I tell ya!

my answer is no where near as detailed as the first, but i personally like to steam my tofu and add it to stir fried vegetables. pretty simple and delicious..depending upon the sauces used. just add the tofu after cooking the veggies to prevent breaking.

Preparing Tofu

Tofu is 90% water. The amount of water removed depends on how tofu will be used. Firmness is determined by amount of water removed from tofu.
To remove water, prepare dry cloth spread on chopping board, place tofu on top of it, cover, hold together and wait for water to drain from cloth.

Cutting hints:

Always wet knife before using. When cutting on cutting board, cut from right to left. On palm, cut tofu left to right into small pieces. Drop gently into miso soup.

Yakko size tofu cubes are 3-4 cubic cm. Tofu block sizes vary, divide into 6-8 cubes.
Sainome cut is smaller than yakko. Cut tofu this size for miso soup.
Arare cut is smaller than sainome cut. This method is used often in vinegar dishes.
Preparing Aburage, removing excess oil.

Pour boiling water over aburage before using to remove excess oil. Slightly boil atsuage or ganmodoki before using. Press firmly to remove any excess water.

Preparing tofu for Inari Sushi

Cut prepared aburage in half. Open halves carefully from the inside. Make a bag, insert prepared rice. Roll edges closed.

Preparing freeze dried tofu (koyadofu)

Freeze dried tofu is first soaked in boiling water. Stop it from floating to the top by placing a small plate or lid directly on top of the water. Soak until tofu softens completely. Rinse off excess water, if water remains a whitish color, repeat soaking process .

I like to freeze my tofu before I press it. It changes the texture and makes it chewier. See my response to Disenchanted's Tofu.... question for details.

I'm not big on recipes. When in doubt, stir fry with extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and soy sauce. Works for just about everything.

i like to slice it into about 1/2 inch thick slices and cook it in a skillet and eat it like a burger (with non-dairy cheese of course :D)

The best way to prepare tofu is to toss it straight to the bin. Never, ever, open the pack it comes in, as no good can ever come of it.

cut it into cubes and roll them in flour - fry them, then eat it with soy sauce and chopped green onions.
