The Webster Dictionary definition of Vegetarian is one who believes in or practices vegetarianism, a diet consisting wholly of vegetables, fruits, and sometimes eggs or dairy products.
If you eat living creatures, sea animals or not...you are Not a vegetarian.
Pesco-Vegetarians (fish eating) or Pollo-Vegetarians (Poultry eating) are made up terms. Neither category can technically call themselves vegetarians, as they are eating flesh from a formerly living creature, not a plant, which is in direct disagreement with the textbook definition of vegetarianism.
So, I don't think people on answers are particularly mean to Vegas or Vegetarians...but Pesetarians and other categories are made up terms. If you eat meat, you are not a vegetarian.

Yahoo! Answers is definitely a great place to spend your time on. When I first started answering question (which was about 1 year and 4 months ago), I never thought that this would become so addicting, so much that I log in to Y!A daily. I see Y!A as a site where I can ask for opinions or help with anything. I agree that this (Y!A) is a unique knowledge-sharing forum. Most of my contacts are very experienced in their respective fields, which is why I chose to connect to them (geniuses). I agree with Dr D that one of the plus points about Y!A is the wonderful network that we build here. My contacts, I believe, do not care about points and there is no way they would ever leave Y!A if the point system was scrapped. All that matters is that as long as they can keep their brains active, and at the same time, help others with any problems, eg, Mathematical problems, they would be contented. Of course there are those who are points-crazy. I have come across one TC who would always leave insulting comments if his answers were not chosen as the best. There are also a few who create multiple accounts so as to gain high percentage of BA. I have witnessed one TC who would ask questions from his other accounts so that he could be the first answerer to the question (using his main account). How did I notice this? Of course, isn't it impossible to type out lengthy solutions in such a short time (of approximately 2 minutes) after the question was posted? Sadly, I reported this to YAT, however no action was taken. Another unique reward is the joy that you get when you answer questions posted by someone else. Of course, being a student, I do not claim that I am a genius and that my answers are all correct or helpful, but I always try my best to help others with the problems or questions they have and share with everyone what I know when it comes to answering questions (mostly Math). I apologize if sometimes there were errors in my answers. Well, we human err. If we can eliminate the problems we face with contributors who create multiple accounts to self-vote for their answers, or trolls who simply give thumbs down and report good answers and questions, then, rest assured, Y!A would even be more entertaining.

Some people are just more offended than others I guess. I will admit, I like meat and nobody can tell me otherwise, but I also respect your decisions on being vegetarians...I myself could probably do the vegetarian thing because I love all and every veggie out there, but I like variety...I even eat the ocasional tofu.
Don't listen to what other people have to say or how they put you down, just be proud of yourself and who you are...

I for one have no problem with vegans/vegetarians/pesetarians. I don't understand why the eating habits of people has to be an issue or a debate. Last i remember this is a free country & we can do what we want. I'm not a vegan/vegetarian person but that doesn't mean i'm against those who are. Those who feel the need to bash someones eating habits have nothing better to do & need a hobby bad. Don't let anyone get to you & do what you beleive in.

Wow, didn't know that they did that. Alot of people on here think they are geniuses and should judge everyone and their mother. I am not a vegetarian or anything of the sort, I eat meat, but I don't care if you don't. Guess all I can say is, this world is too judgemental.

I don't get it. I don't know what they think they're going to accomplish by being annoying.
I don't believe in astrology, but I don't go into the Horoscope section just to harrass people. If somebody wants to believe in that, it's up to them.
The other section I notice that can get pretty hostile is Religion and Sprituality.

There are people in the world that are so mean and so unhappy that the only way they an find any joy in life is to find a group of people they don't like and put them down in every way possible. There are a few for every category on this site. My advice? Use the "report abuse" button where appropriate. And don't let jerks get you down. It's not wrong to be a vegetarian and as long as you're not telling anyone else that their way of life is wrong, no one has any right to give you any flak. People who do are destined to be very lonely one day.

They don't feel comfortable with themselves and their choices. They are defensive because they feel threatened by anyone different, and because they know deep down we are right; and that they can never defend the torture and slaughter of non-humans for their pleasure. Best way is not to let them provoke you. Show them how rational and lovely we are. Remember that nearly all veggies were meaties at one time, and that many of us were defensive about it. But we saw the light. Let's hope they will, too.

No one hates you...
Don't take it personally, I'm not sure who the people you refer to are but whoever they are I'm quite sure they don't hate you. Hate is too strong an emotion for any normal person to feel about a fellow poster esp for their dietary habits.
I think the term you're looking for might be "disagree with" or possibly "express different opinions".
I'm really enjoying YA (Food & Drinks), vegans arguing with vegetarians arguing with pesetarians arguing with omnivores who argue with the everyone else.
I think it's a very healthy forum for expressing personal views. I'm a little scared to go to Politics & Government! :-D
