I think it is a personal choice. You should choose your way, but don't judge others. We have to learn to love each other no matter what choices we make. I can't see shoes made of bean pods lasting very long after all.

I usually don't answer veggie questions but it seems like no one really answered your question.
I am not a vegetarian. Some people don't eat meat because they think the animals are treated cruely. Those people should not wear leather. Those same animals they don't eat are the same ones the leather is being made out of.
But if you are a vegetarian just because you would rather eat vegetables and not meat then it really doesn't matter.
If people know who raises the animal they eat they would have a whole different view on eating meat. I was just at a 4-H fair where the animals are sold at auction so the kid that raised the animal can get back some of the expense he had to raise it. Those animals are raised with love and care so the kid can win the coveted ribbons.
So if you want humanely raised beef, pork, or any other, go to a 4-H fair, at the end of the fair they auction off the animals. They will probably even take it to the butcher for you. Of course you are buying a 1400 pound animal that will be about 900 pounds of meat when you get done so you better have a big freezer or friends who can share it with you.

Yes they should, but it depends on how vegetarian you are,but also there is aing vegetaranism too far. The definition of a vegetarian is someone who does not eat any ddea animal products, so there is no reason why not that you can not wear leather shoes. I am a vegetarian and i wear leather shoes, because i am not eating the leather. But its all up to the individual.

There's no such thing as "half vegetarian". Wearing animal skin is always wrong. Unfortunately it's not illegal, so your mom can do whatever she wants as long as she doesnt call herself a half vegetarian and confuse people. I think it's great that you're a vegetarian, so why dont you inspire your mom and show her all the alternatives to dead skin?

sorry, that it so funny.
Your mom is not "half-vegetarian"
Thats like saying all meat-eaters are vegetarian whenever they not eating.
some vegetarians wear leather, some don't. the definition cover diet. vegans exclude all animal by-products inc leather wool, & silk
Personally, i think veggies should not use leather - is a slaughter by-product and contributes to the cost model of the meat industry

They can do what they like, make their own ethics... I've cut out leather pretty much, but some people won't agree that that's necessary, that's their path. I think the main thing is to follow your own path, and not to preach to others... maybe your mum will cut out leather later on, or maybe she'll decide that it's right to eat all meat... it's not right for us to decide what she should do though...

Poor girl................
Iam all for loving animals; There are animals for pets there are for human to eat and or to be used for all kind of human needs.
So, are you going to wear plastic shoes or metal shoes only?
What about the sole? Usually it made of cow leather. You are not going to wear shoes with leather sole?
What about woolies. What do you wear during winter? Plastic? What about the woolies panty hose?
What about hand bags? lots of handbags made of real leather.
Very rare these days people use cows or buffaloes to plough the rice fields, lots of the work are mechanized now.
When somebody think that cow milk is good for babies, its very good for cow's babies.
I am sorry to say this all, If Iam wrong I appologize. I mean well.
