Think about it, would you want someone eating a meat replacement for human flesh? I think we as vegans should stop eating garden burgers simply because of what they represent. They represent a slaughtered cow and I think that is wrong to even try to imitate eating dead animals.

Oh my god.....

ASHLEY YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE ID*OT!

Phew, sorry but you really are annoying the hell out of me with all your stupid questions.

A vegan burger doesn't represent a slaughtered cow... it represents food and it shows that we can still enjoy tasty things which meat eaters do without causing any suffering to animals.

If anything we should buy more of this food to support the companies which make them. That way, they will become more popular and might actually be able to sway a meat eater into considering a vegetarian/vegan diet. Surely it would be better if there were less meat burgers on the supermarket shelves and more veg ones.

And to answer your question... yes, I would love someone eating a meat replacement for human flesh as long as it wasn't actual flesh. I'm sure we're not hurting any animals' feelings... it's not like they look at a veggie burger and think "that's a me-subsitute". If they did think this I'm sure they would have more sense than you and would probably deduce that it's better these products exists if they're keeping happy those that don't choose to consume their flesh.

Vegan burgers don't represent death... they represent a choice we have made for life. That's just like saying we shouldn't eat animal shaped biscuits or a carrot that just so happens to look like a squid or the head of a horse!

Grow up ashley and stop giving us a bad name!

Firstly I would rather someone ate a meat replacement for human flesh than a person, for some reason I feel it is more ethical. Secondly when I eat a veggie burger or something it does not represent a slaughtered cow, it is an easy, quick and cheap way to not slaughter a cow but still eat a burger. I can't help but feel you've over thought the issue, although the eating of meat replicas may be distasteful to some they're useful to me and I see no ideological fault with them.

Ashley where do you get the idea that a vegan is the most healthy diet? Vegetarian diet, perhaps. I was a vegetarian for years until I found out after many hospital tests that I was also coeliac. I loved the grain dishes but now can't eat anything with glutin in it. I was probably always coeliac looking back now, but it was the increase in grain dishes that accentuated it and made me quite ill. That doesn't mean I'm against veggies, I'm not. But I don't believe a vegan diet healthy. Nevertheless do what you want, it's your life. By the way do you not eat meat because it requires the death of an animal or because you consider it to be a healthier diet?

Look, some people go vegan because of the animal cruelty involved in meat production, for the environment, or for their health, but they still like the taste and texture (although the taste is really the seasonings). There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with eating analogues. If more people who like the taste of meat swtich to veggie burgers, veggie ribs, veggie sausage, and other tasty soy- or wheat-based "meats," that means they're eating fewer slaughtered animals. Think, silly girl, think!

And for the record, there is a fake version of human flesh. It's called Hufu.

Stop right there - YOU should stop eating them because YOU think that way. OTHERS can eat what they want and YOU should NOT have a problem with it because (1) it's not your business to tell people they are WRONG and (2) it's not a dead animal anyway and (3) be happy that others can be attracted to the variety in vego food with all these great soy and wheat protein products and thereby change the definition of meat for themselves.

The Chinese have been making these tasty foods from plant sources for thousands of years so it's nothing new, it's just FOOD. People eat food. Oh, did I say it's NOT a dead animal? What's your problem then?

Jeez, and I thought I was a fanatic 10 years ago LOL!

In my own opinion, they taste very good! But I will quite on them whwn I am 18. My docter says I need to eat spinich, and soy protein (I am 14) So I eat these veggie burgers, hot dogs etc. I am however sickened to think of them as dead animals, but then I think it is just vegetables! I have been vegan for a few years now, before my family even was, and I can understand you fully. If you feel so strongly about you, possible you should stop eating meat substitutes. Just please do not eat real meat, it leads to diabetes, heat deasies etc. (I once ate meat, and that is where my diabetes came from) . I used to hate reading and learning, but after becoming vegan, I learned to love studying, so veganism is good for your mind aswell as health, and the animals.

Whenever I see something like "Garden Burger" I immediately think soy. In fact, I never think of cows or of other animals whenever I eat/see soy immiation meats. I don't think they represent a slaughtered cow at all and I don't see the harm in them so I'll continue to eat them. I still wouldn't eat that many though because processed soy isn't all that great for you.

I think immitation meats are actually a good thing because a lot of vegans and vegetarians have a hard time with the change and it helps them adjust and helps them fit in at BBQ's and such since they can just bring a veggie burger/hot dog.

"we as vegans should..."
As a vegan, I think we should stop telling others what to do if it's unsolicited.
Fake human flesh? Well, you know my answer to that, Ashley:

As for eating meat replicas, I am neither a new vegetarian nor a bad cook, I eat them for one simple reason: meat is tasty. I thought it was tasty when I was a meat-eater, and I think the closer to meat the replicas get, the better.
I did not become vegan because I don't like meat, because I am squeamish, because I wanted to appear holier-than-thou, or even for health, but simply because I do not want to pay for, and thus support, the suffering of conscious, pain-feeling beings.
Fake meats encourage people as a whole to reduce animal suffering. Why are you against this, Ashley?

I understand what you're saying... but isn't that like saying that nobody should drink decaf coffee or diet soda? I mean, just because it's similar to another product... it's still NOT that product. Diabetics can't have sugar but they can still enjoy soda. I enjoyed decaf espresso drinks when pregnant so I could still have what I craved without affecting my baby. I don't see anything wrong with eating meatless burgers, etc. Just because it's in the shape of a burger doesn't mean we're eating it because it's "like meat". A portabello mushroom comes out in the same shape as a meat patty too (after grilling it)... should we not eat that either?

Oh brother. A garden burger reperesents a dead cow now? Just because it fits on a bun? Just because a meat burger was round first nobody should eat garden burgers? LOL
