Has to be the hardest thing I ever did in my life and I have been around and through a war. lol.. Just have to keep thinking about the goal, the end. You will get there, but you have to really want to accomplish the goal or have a good reason to quit like smoke or die. Good luck.

Quitting for good is a very, very hard thing to do for most smokers. You need to really want to quit. Unfortunately, procrastinating (waiting until tomorrow) will not help you get serious about quitting. Once you've got your mind made up that you are going to quit just do it. For the first few weeks your whole life will seem like it revolves around whether to smoke or not. Just stick to your guns. Pretty soon it will seem like it wasn't that hard at all. But you need to keep in the back of your mind the fact of how difficult it was for those first few weeks and how you don't want to put yourself through it again. After 25 years of smoking and 2 or 3 sincere attempts to quit, I finally did. March 4, 2003. For good. I did it "cold turkey". You might not be able to quit that way, but which ever way you think will work for you, just stick with it. It will be one of the most important decisions, regarding your health, present or future, you ever make.

i dont think that you should try cold turkey
try the patch. or some other aid

try to keep busy all day long. dont sit about. cus you'll notice your craving's alot more.

have something to keep your hand's a mouth busy such as eating salted sunflower seed's. when you have to sit still. that keep's my mind off of thing's.

dont do any thing that will be stressful for the first week. say if you have a family issue stay away for the week if you can.

suck on popcicles or lollipop's

when your mind wonder's to smoking dont allow for it. get up and do something.

do drink or do anything that you would do with smoking such as having a cup a coffee. cus this will cue you to pick up a smoke.

try to go to bed early. i mean like 10 at night. the more sleep you get the more you can take advantage of this time while your body is getting rid of the nicotene in your body. the first 4 day's are the hardest. then it get's a bit easier. it wont be much about craving for the nicotine it will be about getting rid of the habit of smoking.

it take's great will power.

tonight before you go to bed be honest and write about the reason's why you wont to quit. write about the benefit's of not smoking like you'll have much more money in your pocket. you can save that up for something special. health reason's. your skin will look better. and no more embarrassing oder's on your clothe's and in your home.

this list can help but try to think hard and keep the goal in sight. cus like after the first day. you'll try to swindle your self in thinking that those thing'son your list i can do with out. it's crazy but true.

so alottttttt of will power is necessary here.

good luck

mona

ps i agree with jennybobenny keep your mouth clean. every time you eat or drink especially coffee brush your teeth and tounge really well. this help's alot too

you take it one day at a time...or better yet..one cigarette at a time... "I won't have this cigarette right now..instead, i'll...."

Thinking about never smoking ever again is overwhelming...take it one at a time.... When the craving hits get up and get busy, run down the stairs, brush your teeth, drink a COLD glass of ice water, put lotion on your hands... Maybe look into nicorette gum or possibly even the patch...be prepared... Think of all the things you hate about smoking...maybe the smell of your hair, your hands, your breath....just the habit itself, you know how it controls you...how many times have you gotten home and freaked because you didn't have enough smokes for the night and you have to leave home to go to the store... It's so controlling, be happy because you will lose that horrible controlling habit... with the money you save each week, buy yourself something nice..or better yet each day put what you would have spent in a jar and watch your $$$$ stack up... you can take a trip, or splurge at your favorite shop!

Good luck to you...you can do it!

Instead of quitting all at once, start designating times and places where you will not smoke. So start off by saying.. no more smoking in the car. It will make the transition easier, and you'll realize that you don't need the cigarettes.
Then a week later, say, no more smoking in the car or after meals, etc. keep going from there.

If you ask my brother, Larry it's not hard to quit smoking...if you ask me, it's damn hard. :D I gave up smoking after 6 years and it was really hard for me. Chewing gums didn't help, I ate more chocolate etc etc. Plus I tried many 'quit smoking' programs like Easyquitsystem.com and a bunch of other programs but none of them helped me. I don't want to spam, or market anything here, but I used this program: http://tinyurl.com/2m8yjz to stop smoking, and it helped after using it for two and a half weeks. Remember before that I tried to quit smoking for a half year. :) There are plenty of other systems, guides out there on the internet, I know this one and it worked for me.

Instead of stoping cold turkey, cut down on the amount each day. Stopping cold turkey is very hard and can lead to severe crankiness. Beleive me, I know alot of smokers. Set certain times when you can have one or two ciggerates a day and go from there.

It's not that bad...I used the nicotine gum for a few days and exercised a lot...stay away from smokers, that helps a lot...change your daily routines...drink a lot of water...don't let those stupid little sticks win....you can do it!!!
