Definitely something you do not have much of otherwise, say prawns or crab or lobster if you like them...... it is up to you. Happy Birthday, too!

Salmon Fillets.
Lightly salt fillet. Place a knob of butter on a medium high heat, ribbed frypan, and when it stops sizzling add fillet skin side down.
As it cooks you will see it changing colour and when it is about 1/3 cooked, carefully turn.
Cook until a further 1/3 is cooked and remove to a warmed plate and cover with foil.
Add some more butter and some fresh herbs:-
Fennel: for an aniseed taste.
Mint.
Parsley.
Let cook for a few minutes and remove from heat. The cast iron will keep it warm.
Mashed Potatoes, leeks and pumpkin.

My birthday was earlier this year, and I had steamed crab legs with a lemon-garlic butter, veal with a lemon caper sauce, and a green salad with feta, and a balsamic vinaigrette. I can't wait to have it again soon!

And happy birthday!

if you are fixing it yourself, have desserts...splurge, it's your birthday afterall...honestly, birthdays are always special days for people, so celebrate with your favorite meal...i just like desserts best...LOL don't forget to have a cupcake if you don't want to bake a cake and have leftovers for a week...you really should invite a friend over to celebrate with you...but you haven't said you are dining alone...so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! and enjoy whatever you decide to do...

Happy Birthday!!!

Have what you want! For my last birthday I grilled steaks, made twice-bakes potatoes, and braised asparagus.... YUM!

But it's your day, so make whatever you really feel like having... splurge a bit and go all out!
