A dumpling is just dough either round or square -shaped. Potstickers are filled with meat and on the sticky side. Dumplings are wet and cooked with chicken.

Just to clarify something mentioned in the first answer, potstickers are pan-fried (not deep fried) dumplings. Hence the name.

well nothing really
but dumplings also can be flat thick noodles - chicken and dumplings. it's a food that can mean different things.
but they can be stuffed the same way as potstickers too
i get steamed and/or fried dumplings from my local chinese resturant, they have pot stickers which are filled/shaped differently

Basically they are the same item. It how you cook them that is the difference. The pot sticker you fry and the dumpling you boil.
