Why do people throw away water bottles why don't they recycle?

With today's eco friendly packaging it doesn't make any difference if you recycle or toss out. The bottles quickly degrade into first class fertilizer.

I don't understand why people don't recycle either, many cities
large and small have recycling bins along side their trash cans. I am now going a step further and am purifying my water to save on the number of plastic bottles I use.

No excuse not to recycle! People are just lazy! All plastic can (and should ) be recycled.
Did you know it takes the same amount of energy to make a quart glass container as it does to burn a 100 watt light bulb for 100 hours? Or that the US currently has the cabability to recycle 80% of it's paper, but only does 20%?

The answer is that in general people are stupid when it comes to recycling. Dont believe what one person said about biodegradable plastic bottles. If people would take as much time to recycle as they do to get a Starbucks in a recyclable cup, we would be much better off. Personally, we recycle more than we throw out. Plastic, glass, metal, aluminum, paper, and cardboard are all recyclable, please do so.

Plastic recycling is not high on the list of efficiency. To recycle plastic we add a significant amount of air borne pollution by means of transfering this material into new products. Beyond that, the recyling trucks and the recycling equipment use oil - what we trying to conserve. All in all, plastic recycling saves a little oil, but we need a greater market for this type of recyling to be economically sensible.

I saved all newspapers, water bottles, all plastic and we took it to the dump area to recycle and the man said they stopped recycle and dumped all the plastic and paper with all the other stuff for the dump! So I was so upset.....how as a consumer can you recycle when your county doesn't at the dump site?? It has to start somewhere but then the cycle must continue with having places to take our recycled things!

I'm from Toronto and the neighbourhood I live in doesn't have recycling. All the garbage just goes into big bins that get collected weekly. I feel so guilty just throwing all the stuff away. We have lots of recyclables.

Alot of states don't have recycle bins for water bottles, most of my garbage goes into a garbage can, sorry. Maybe you can pass legislation that forces all states to carry recycle bins, so people can throw away their water bottles.

People are lazy. It is easier for people to mindlessly throw away a perfectly recyclable item than to take the time to do the right thing.
