Need some suggestions, this is a biggie and I want to make it special, I'm drawing a blank because I rarely do any formal celebrations, etc. Give me some ideas how to make it special, please! (Nothing involving booze, I don't drink, so partying til I pass out isn't on the list.. :)

Try something different like an interactive show like a Murder Mystery Dinner Party or just a big party at your house or somewhere nice with your favorite people and foods. No alcohol, no problem (in fact I think that's really better that way myself-safer for those having to drive or those having to be on the road with someone who's been drinking). Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!

Cool! My husband and I went to a "milestone" birthday celebration last night. There were about 45 of us at Tony Romos. Everything was set up by his girlfriend. There were 4 items from the menu to choose from (in advance), a set price ($22, which covered tip) and a cake was brought in. Afterwards most everybody headed to the same chip meeting. It was a real cool way to get alot of friends together for a special occasion and it didn't cost alot of money.

OK NO BOOZE NO PROBLEM
FOR A FORMAL YOU WANT SOMETHING THATS NOT REALLY MESSY SO NOTHING WITH ICING. TRY KEECH MOOSE AND STUFF LIKE THAT. I HAVE AN AWARD WINNING RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE PEANUTBUTTER EGGS YOU CAN USE. IT TAKES ABOUT 9 HOURS IN TOTAL.

FIRST YOU:
MIX
1 JAR REESES PEANUTBUTTER (18OZ)(THIS TYPE WORKS BEST!)
2 STICKS BUTTER OR MARGERINE
1 TSP. VANILLA
8OZ CREAM CHEESE
2LBS. 10X SUGAR(8 CUPS)
MIX WELL AND CHILL FOR 2 HOURS

NOW ROLL THE DOUGH INTO DESIRED SHAPE. I DO BALLS OTHERS DO EGGS, BUT THE BALLS ARE EASIER TO COAT.

AFTER ROLLING ALL THE DOUGH CHILL AGAIN FOR 2 HOURS.

NOW YOU NEED
2LBS CHOCOLATE CHIPS(I USE MILK CHOCOLATE, BUT YOU CAN USE SEMISWEET)
AND
GULF WAX(OR COOKING WAX)

MELT THE 1 POUND CHOCOLATE CHIPS AND ADD ABOUT3/4 OF A SLAB OF COOKING WAX. NOW YOU ARE READY TO COAT ONE PEANUTBUTTER CANDY, IF THE CHOCOATE STICKS NICELY AND DOES NOT SEEM CLEAR THEN YOUR GOOD, BUT IF IT SEEMS CLEAR AND YOU CAN STILL SEE SOME OF THE DOUGH ADD ALITTLE MORE CHOCOLATE CHIPS. AGAIN DO ONE TESTER AND SEE IF ITS GOOD.

IF THE FIRST ONE IS GOOD YOU CAN START COVERING ALL THE PEANUTBUTTER CANDY.

WHEN YOU ARE DONE COVERING ALL THE CANDY CHILL FOR 1 HOUR AND ENJOY.

THIS IS VERY TIME CONSUMING BUT THEY ARE DAMN GOOD.

The older I get the more fun I like having. I've done the formal stuff to death.
Paintball
Laser Quest
Mini-golf
Dance party (hire an instructor)
Scavenger Hunt (my favourite)
