It could be, but your overall physical condition and stress level also affect your blood pressure. The best way to determine your blood pressure is to average several readings over a 15-30 minute time frame, it'll give you a better idea of what your blood pressure is really doing. Excercise is the magic answer, it'll help you get in better shape (everyone can always be in better shape, lol), and it'll relieve stress...

I first had high blood pressure when I was 11. It's 40 years later and I spent the last two days in the hospital having a full cardiac workup..and being really scared.
You need to lose weight, limit your sodium, get yourself on a daily exercise program, and monitor your blood pressure starting TODAY.
I know 51 must seem ancient to you. It did to me at 17. However, it doesn't feel ancient when you get here. As a matter of fact, you start having a hard time figuring out why you feel like 17, and your body refuses to go along with it.
Honestly, you need to work on getting the top number under 130, and the bottom number under 80.
Start now...live healthy...and you may not end up where I have. Good luck!

Nervousness wouldn't make THAT much of an impression on your blood pressure, but it does seem to have come down somewhat--were you extremely active just before the first test--164/90 and 130/84 seems like quite a difference to me! The main thing to remember about blood pressure tests is consistency--of course your blood pressure between periods of heavy activity and sufficient rest is going to differ.

You should'nt worry at all.I am not aware of your race, cause Blood Pressure for different race groups is different. However as a general rule, from what you write, your systolic pressure,i.e; the upper figure appears to fluctuate and your diastolic i.e; the lower figure is more or less normal. As you know the normal BP is 120/80,but you rarely find individuals with that BP figure.Age plays an important part also in the BP.Systolic pressure upto 160 is considered normal limit and Diastolic pressure upto 90 is normal. The cause of concern is not the upper figure but the lower one. Here I also want to warn you that, many individuals who are concerned with BP suffer subconsiously from anxiety and "white coat hypertension" i.e; their BP gets elevated on seeing a doc(who wears a white coat usually) or when they realize that they are to undergo BP check. It happens to most including me also who am a BP patient. Now coming to you, your BP for your age is normal and in medical jargon it is moderately high cause lower figure goes as high as 90.But you have nothing to fear.Be normal in your diet and take regular exercises. If you can do yoga you will remain fit all through your life.Stop Worrying and be happy .

164/90 is high for a you. 134/84 is OK! If you do have high blood pressure at your age you need some investigations as young people shouldn't attribute this to worry! The things you can do to lower your blood pressure and prevent heart disease is to make sure your weight is OK (BMI 19 to 24) , reduce salt intake, exercise and be happy!

You can have high blood pressure for different reasons. tension and stress can cause it to but if you may have a medical condition that is causing it is better that you see your doctor. Overweight also can give you problems. There are medical conditions that your doctor can explain to you. If anybody in the family suffers from high blood pressure? Also check the cuff, if your cuff is too small for your arm that can give a false reading of high blood pressure. Diets with high salt also don't help. Again, check with your doctor and in the meantime try to be stress relief.

yes it will make difference if you lose weight and it would be great for you. you are too young to be on pressure meds but if you have to you have to. the last reading is too high also. the first one was probably cause you were uptight and it cna do that sometimes doctors will let you sit awhile and then take it. the bottom number needs to be 60 or 70's at least.

I also had my bp tested and it was quite high.I lost a bit of weight and it came down but was still higher than normal. My doctor tols me not to worry as the anxiety of having your blood pressure tested can in itself cause your blood pressure to spike.I definately think it's cause of your nerves.

Your diet might be high in sodium or salt. Drink more water.
Lower ther the caffiene in your drinks. The blood pressure might stay on the lower side. Linda
