This is the kind with a baffled chimney that will heat up a whole wall for hours with just a little bit of wood or coal.
What is your experience with it? Did you design it yourself, have someone else build it, or use a kit?

I wish. We looked at these but couldn't work out how to comply with UK building regs. The local council couldn't work it out either. Lol.

So we have tried to use the same principle with our wood burning stoves by putting a double skinned wall between the actual wall and the stove and using stone flags on the floor.

It is amazing how little wood you use this way, basically except on the really coldest days when everybody is at home we just light the fire until the room gets up to temperature and then it gives off enough heat to be comfortable for hours. The walls and floor heat up even on the coldest day and next morning the room is still warm.

If you are using this sort of heating it is really important to keep the doors shut. Difficult when you have kids. We put door closer on ours. That way you retain the heat in the room you are sitting in.

It is the building regs that are the problem so if anybody knows how email me please.
