My grandmother owned a bar back in the 40's in St. Louis, and I cannot find ANYTHING on it at all! Please help!!

Call the Chamber of Commerce in St. Louis
You could check with the newspaper also - just in case she ever advertised.

I live in Westminster MD, we have a web site called community cafe - there is one for the St Louis area - StLChatCafe - join and then ask on line for help - remind others on the site to ask their 'elders' for you. Find out what the neighborhood is called, and see if there is a specific local newspaper (we have the Towson TImes, the Catonsville Times) etc that are published weekly or even a specific website for that neighborhood. Some people are into helping others, as they have more available time. You never know.

St. Louis should have some kind of a historical society that should be able to help you or at least point you in the right directions.

The city will have records on the address from tax rolls. That should give you a start. You shouldn't even need the name of the establishment, only the dates, or specific year you are looking for. Written records for most establishments are fairly rare unless they are noteworthy for more than just a bar, i.e. celebrity hang out, major crime scene, fire, etc.

Go to the local newspaper archives and search their back issues
But you will need the bars name to do this.
