A survey in New Zealand identified "vegansexuals."
Definition: No sex with carnivores. Sample quotes from respondents:
1) "I would not want to be intimate with someone whose body is literally made up from the bodies of others who have died for their sustenance. Non-vegetarian bodies smell different to me—they are, after all, literally sustained through carcasses."
2) "I believe we are what we consume so I really struggle with bodily fluids, especially sexually."
3) "I couldn't think of kissing lips that allow dead animal pieces to pass between them."
4) "When you are vegan or vegetarian, you are very aware that when people eat a meaty diet, they are kind of a graveyard for animals."

I can't agree with the first quote. I can't say meat eaters really smell differently unless you're talking about their breath or they've just walked out of a steak house. But I agree with how they feel about not wanting to be intimate with an omnivore. If I were to date someone, I'd just want them to have the same values as me. Most people would feel the same way, whether it's about being vegan, religion, or how you look at life in general.

I think the first quote is a tad extreme, simply because of the "smell" part. I find that odd. I sort of have issues with dating meat eaters personally because my reasons for being a vegetarian are a big part of my values. I prefer to date people who understand how horrible factory farming is and as a result stop contributing to it.
Although, factory farming isn't the only reason why I remain vegetarian. It started me off as a veggie but now I could just never go back to meat even if it was abolished.

I think it's great. I mean, people can choose to sleep with who they want, but I'm definitely vegansexual. I want to respect the person I'm sleeping with and I can no longer respect meat eaters (sorry fellas).

Since my wife is a vegetarian... I haven't thought about that. I guess if given the choice, I would choose a veggetarian... not sure about the smell but having something in common as far as diet is a big plus.

i guess this is this person opinion but i do not agree with it. I am a vegetarian and have become one because i feel strongly for animal rights but thats just me. Although i am proud to be a vegetarian i would never force a family member, friend or boyfriend to become one. I think its somewhat judgmental towards meat eaters. although i have had my share of unpleasant kisses after a guy ate meat it is there choice to eat it and i would never want to change someone or not be with a boyfriend affectionately and sexually because they ate meat. It is my choice to be a vegetarian not theirs.

I'm a vegan married to an omni. I went veg after we married. I don't think much about it, though there are times when his breath is too meat stinky for me, but he's considerate about it. I still don't think he makes the best diet choices, but he's taking baby steps and I'm still very much in love with him.

Wow, that is really disgusting to think about -"a graveyard of animals".... Wow, I don't want to think these thoughts.
I was thinking it would be cool to date another vegan because we would have that in common and it would be very cool to be with someone who understands why I'm vegan and is one too.

A friend forwarded me that story. I kind of already figured there were people like that. If that's how they feel, more power to them ... that's their personal relationships. I don't personally agree with that, but to each his own!

Awesome. I personally think that vegans that date non vegans are traitors. Also, listen to the discussion of it on

Pretty cool discussion.
