The contents of a cigarette are:
tobacco leaves, cured and cut
paper (wrapping)
PVA glue (hold paper wrapping together)
optional, a filter which is a cellulose acetate

Now, if you are speaking about the smoke emitted from a lit cigarette, that is where the danger begins. There are more than 3000 chemicals in tobacco smoke! There isn't anyway to name them all but here are some:
nicotine, which is the most harmful
tobacco tar
carbon monoxide
urethane
aluminum
zinc
acetone
arsenic
formaldehyde
copper
lead
magnesium
benzo pyrene
mercury
titanium
toulene
ethanol
and many more that I can't remember and others that I never knew to start.
