In order to help absorb calcium you need Vitamin D. Try some sunlight or in pill form. No body can make you eat something you don't want to. You still opened your mouth, chewed, and swallowed right?

Well, dairy really is bad. The cows are pumped up with hormones to keep them producing, then given antibiotics when their udders become swollen because of constant milking and excessive milk production.
Countries with the highest rates of milk consumption also have the highest rates of osteoporosis because excess protein, especially animal protein, causes you to LOSE calcium.
Soy milk is not bad for you unless you consume too much soy. Many soy products are fortified with calcium (and you can find tofu that is coagulated with calcium salts). And vitamin D will help you absorb calcium.
Get a multivitamin with some calcium and vitamin D, and while the weather is warm, make sure you get about 15 minutes' exposure to sun every day (unless you are dark-skinned, in which case, you will need more). Just wear a top that bares your arms and chest, get a little on your face, too.

I believe so.. Think of it like this.. Humans are the only animals on earth that continue to drink milk after infancy, and not only that but the only animals that drink milk from another species.. to me thats just not natural and cant be good for you.. also cows only produce milk while they are pregnant, we induce them with hormones to keep them producing milk.. also not natural at all.. and think of the size a calf is when he starts drinking milk, it triples it's size, by the time it is weaned.. Scary!.. and lastly for those that tell you milk is needed for calcium, That is a result of being brainwashed by marketing, Calcium is the only postive thing going for milk so the Dairy industry markets this point to us in eccess i order for us to buy the product.. A few spinach leaves has more calcium than a litre of milk!.. also osteoporosis is not a problem in japan where they mainly consume soy milk, yet it is a major problem for aged women in america and australia!! Think about it.... we can live very healthily without milk or dairy products.. and there is many substitues now out there if you chose to avoid dairy!!

I found out I'm lactose intolerant a couple weeks ago and I was upset because no product tastes like milk, some of the products are too sweet for my taste. I've tried everything and the two I like are almond milk and Dairy Ease. Rice milk is good for dipping cookies into.

This just really makes me upset.. I have a cow, and I love her, and she loves me.. she gives me wonderful healthy milk!! It's NOT TRUE that cows only produce when they are pregnant or even for a year after, happy cows produce as long as they want!!! (third year milking my sweety pie)
I would never eat a cow, doesn't your doc know this is not good for you? There are countless studies that support vegetarian lifestyle. I don't even want to go into it... but mostly, It is WRONG WRONG WRONG to eat a cow who is like our mother!!
ok i'm trying to calm myself...
The only truly healthy way to get full benifit from drinking milk is if you drink it from happy cows, who aren't tortured. Also grass fed is best for cows, and subsequently cow's milk. And RAW is the only way to go!! That's how I drink mine!
If you feed a calf pasturized milk, it will DIE!!
Studies with cats: two groups of cats one group lived solely on raw milk the other on pasturized milk, raw milk group thrived, pasturized group became fat and sick.. and on the third generation of the cats (grandkitties) the study had to be stopped as the cats in the pasturized group could no longer reproduce!! (too unhealthy to make more kittens!)
look into realmilk.com and studies by mayo clinic on raw milk fast for curing diseases..
and get a new doctor.

Milk is not all that good for you. Soy milk is better. But there are other types of milk out there and ones that you can make yourself. You can even make your own soy milk if you don't care for the store bought. You can achieve your calicum requirements by eating more green veggies. Check out this website http://www.vrg.org/recipes to help you out.

First of all, your doctor is crazy and don't listen to him..not all doctors are right in what they say. YES milk is that bad go to www.milkgonewild.com or www.milksucks.com and you will see. Also there is rice milk, almond milk, hemp milk, oat milk etc etc. Go vegan it's the best, nothing will be cured with eating a carcass.

Soy milk isn't bad for you. Excessive consumption of soy protein is (30+ grams per day). A couple glasses of soymilk won't hurt you. Try GV Brand Organic Soymilk from walmart, it's the same as Silk and it's almost as cheap as regular milk. You could also try rice milk, it's pretty good. You should also try to eat broccoli or other calcium-rich vegetables every day.
It is true that calcium from cow's milk is not absorbed as easily as other forms of calcium, especially if you have slight lactose intolerance or some other sensitivity to dairy.

You should find a new doctor. You might need more vitamin D though. Milk is good for you, whole milk has a lot of fat so the lower the fat is better.

Milk isn't really good for you, and as you've said it doesn't even provide that much calcium... I'll have to correct myself if I find the article again, if I'm wrong... but I read that we would only absorb something like 11% of the calcium in milk. I might be screwing up the numbers though... I read it a while ago.
Soy milk isn't bad for you, that whole thing about it being bad is a myth... just like the "drink milk, get strong bones" myth.
It's better for you than dairy milk anyways... (That is unless you are allergic or something)
That sucks that someone made you eat meat, I'd see a dietitian to get some real advice (one that isn't going to shove meat in your face... try for a vegetarian friendly one).
Good luck.
