She is 60 years old.

Yes it often too often, during an annual medical checkup, out of the blue the Dr. will ask did you have an heart attack, the patient will say no. This is silent attack it comes and the patient does not have any symptom/s e.g during sleep and in diabetics.
In your mother age it's common, but I assure you she is in safe hands, and not much too worry. she is going to be all right soon.

I have definetly heard of it. I don't know how often it happens though. As far as I know you have it but you don't know. It leaves marks on the heart or something. I think that's how they know. I can't say that its perfectly fine to have them cause obviously its not. But yes. It does happen. She should take precautions just like someone who has had an attack though. Watch diet and stuff like that. It is probably the beginning of things to come. If she didn't know it then maybe that is better for you. Maybe this is a warning that she needs. She should be fine. Nothing usually comes of it. The massive ones are the ones to sit up and take notice. Just do as the doc says. Chances are they told her to slow down and watch her diet. Maybe they suggest an aspirin a day. 81mg. But don't do this unless the doc says so. I hope she's ok.

This depends a lot on what the cardiologist calls a heart attack. I have had seven what the family medico refers to as heart attacks but my cardiologist calls cardiac incidents. I guess it all depends on the degree of severity, the amount of damage and the recovery. To answer your question, yest it is possible to have a heart attack which might be mistaken for a lot of other symptoms, including indigestion,

yes, people can have mild heart attacks and even strokes and never know it- my friends mother who is in her 70's went to the neurologist to get checked out, they found some damage (signs) indicating she had a mild stroke at some point and the damage appeared to be months to a year old.
Same goes with a heart attack- some people go months, even years never knowing.
Hope she is okay and make sure she takes care of herself.

I have heard that people can experience heart attacks without even knowing it. My uncle was in the same situation.
