Here is a question on here posted by a vegan
Why do people think it is okay to eat meat?
I am trying to convince my new neighbors to stop eating meat, but they told me that it was okay because it was food? That is their only excuse.
I know about what time they get home from work so me and my friends are going to be waiting on them in their driveway when they get home. We spent several hours on some nice signs showing the truth about this so called "food" they think is okay to eat.
My question is this, what approaches have you used on meat eaters to get them to stop eating meat? If you are a vegan do you act this way. if you are a non vegan how would
My question is are most vegans this crazy? do they really think this will work to get people to covert? I think it is as effective eas the people who tell you God loves you unconditionally and then telling you if you dont then he will throw you in a fire and let you burn forever.
would you want her for a neighbor?

Why did I post it, becuase I had a real question. This might be this ashley you speak of i am not sure,
If this is a meat eater posting as a vegan to cause trouble then that is sad that their life is that pitiful.
I just found this post and a few others by diffrent vegans very disturbing. I say good for you if you choose to be a vegan but respect others who dont.
I am a hunter and fisher so its not out of sight out of mind for me I am very aware of where meat comes from.
How do i block people from my account and what does that do exactly

Well, I am a vegan AND a Christian.... not often seen in the same person! It is not my job to convert people to veganism. I simply give them facts about their living and dying conditions. I answer questions that are asked, and I don't give them a hard time for eating meat. All I can do is be an example of what someone with a truly compassionate lifestyle eats. I'm not ashamed of my diet/lifestyle, but at the same time, I don't push it down peoples throats and tell them they're murdering animals if they eat meat.
My relationship with Christ is much the same way. I answer questions the best I can, I give them information about what Jesus has done for me personally and how my life has changed since I've decided to follow Him. I try to lead by example in the way I live, which I'll be the first to admit I don't succeed everyday. And God DOES love you.
I don't want her for a neighbor. I want you for a neighbor! haha

If I had that crazy dimwit as a neighbor, I would kick her @ss back across the street and tell her when she paid my grocery bill and mortgage payment, then she could dictate what and how I eat. As a vegetarian, I do it for my own reasons, none of which should be of concern to anyone else on the planet, including the often overzealous omnivores who try to get me to eat meat. Keep in mind there are just as many of those as there are zealous vegans. My diet is just that-MINE, and unless and until someone takes over the responsibilities of MY life, then they can not concern themselves with what I choose to eat. No, not all vegans and vegetarians are crazy, any more than all omnivores are named Bubba and chew tabacco. To make such a generalization would be very small minded. Some of just dont like the thought of decaying animal flesh sitting around in our bodies, creating havoc with our digestive systems.

I don't really agree with people pushing their views on others. BUT I am a vegetarian, and can empathize with their call-to-arms. The truth is that I wouldn't be a vegetarian if I wasn't informed about it first. I fully support vegans and veggies everywhere, I think it's quite admirable (though I don't consider the same for myself).
The whole religion thing is really not my scene either. But then again, it might appeal to some folks.
Honestly though, I really think the general population is not so cold-hearted and callous. I do believe if they did know what was happening in slaughterhouses, that they could at least give vegetarianism a shot. Most folks think since its out of sight, out of mind... and I was once one of them. I miss the taste/texture/smell of cooked meat, but the ends don't justify the means for me. Vegetarianism equals environmentalism, it has health benefits, and (for me, most importantly) ends suffering and torture of those animals.

I have a very good friend who has been vegan for over 10 years. If he had tried to indoctrinate me with his beliefs, I would not be his friend. No, most vegans are not militant like these people. In fact, the people you describe above are in my opinion the antithesis of vegan culture. I respect anyone who can stomach (pun intended) not eating all the great foods that are out there. However, most vegans including my friend, do not judge people who are not like them. Not to mention, they are living for themselves, and would prefer to teach by example...not by force. Also, that would reduce the amount of possible friends by A LOT since there are very few vegans out there. The main moral of the story is vegans do what they do because they would not feel right doing what most of the rest of us do by taking full advantage of the animals on this planet. People like the ones you described above probably have only a few "elitist" friends with no differing perspectives on life. Therefore, they have effectively trapped themselves into their own closed mindedness.

Sorry but I'm a veggie and I say live and let live, my husband is a meat eater so are my children, it is a choice you have made and pushing your views on them is not far, my hubby has only once tried to get me to eat meat and that was when I had cooked him roast pork, and said something about it he pinned me against the wall trying to make me eat it as a joke of course.
I have no problem with him he has no problem with me.
Leave them alone before they get a court order out on you, you are taking this way too far!

In defense of my friend who is a vegan, she makes some of the tastiest veggies dishes ever. I'm an omnivore and get the program drill around xmas and Thanksgiving, save the turkeys. We listen and pass the white meat. I don't know what a relationahsip with God has to do with dietary preferences.

Who posted this, was it Ashley ?
we all know she's nuts and no, its not representative of all vegans. In fact, most of us believe she is just a meaty-troll
A quick glance at her question history would have told you she was mad. Most of us have her blocked in our accounts, you might choose to do the same.
Its a shame that you might choose to judge all vegans by the behaviour of someone who is probably a meaty-troll
EDIT: If you hover over her avatar you will get a dialogue box that shows "bock user" near the bottom of it. It stops her writing to you, which might nto be an issue, but it also highlights any question she writes with a red symbols o you can easily ignore them. Yahoo also use the times a person is blocked to judge if they need banning, thats why the more people that block her the sooner she'll go.
ps: you should have seen her original batch of questions !! thats why we won't forgive her.

I usually tell people that I can't tell them what to do, just what's the best for them to do. I tell them how cows are slaughtered (which by the way is nasty. They stick a metal pole through it's head, then they throw it in a scolding hot vat of oil. some of the cows are still alive then.) and how animals never get to breathe fresh air or play with their kids.

I guess we have to accept the fact that there are fanatics in every walk of life. I have just become a vegetarian and I will not force my choices on anyone, but if they start to criticize me I will simply tell them the reasons for my choices.
