Fill in an HC1 form (available from GP or chemist), as she may be entitled to help with prescription costs. Make sure you always ask for an NHS receipt when you collect prescriptions in case she can claim it back.

You can buy a pre-pay card, which costs about as much as 10 prescriptions and lasts 3 months (or there's a year-long one, but I can't remember how much that is) - if she has loads of prescriptions this is a much better bet. Your chemist can give you a form about this.

Another useful trick is to talk to her GP and ask whether he can put more in each prescription. I did this when I was on long term meds and wasn't going to be able to take them as I was getting one week's supply for £6.85, which I simply couldn't afford. Most GPs are very good and will give you as many as they can prescribe in one go in order to make sure you take them.

Good luck xx

Have a read of the following booklet (you'll need to download it. It's in .pdf format.)

I've just scanned through it, but can't see anything related to patients claiming sick pay and being excused from prescription charges. Do ask at the chemist's though.

Many colorations are completely flat. (i'm keeping some interior of my palms right this moment, smallish rectangular colorations interior a silver-colored physique.) it somewhat is merely a stylistic element. no longer something related to physics or optics (till of direction they're prescription colorations).

People on sick pay or working tax or child tax credits don't pay for prescriptions. If she is earning less than £140 per week with no other income she will get rent.council tax reduction.

Ask your chemist for all forms for free medication and pre payment methods which are cheaper, if the medication is an on going thing for life, there should be clauses that cover in one of the forms

Look into whether she is entitled to any benefits. As she is on such a low income then maybe she will be entitled to something. There will be a lot of forms to fill in but it will be worth it if they can help her. Hope everything works out x

People on benefits do not pay the charge but if your mother is not on benefits then get her a pre-payment certificate which is about ninety pounds a year and that covers as many prescriptions as your mother needs in that year.

If the meds are essential to sustaining her life she can get a medical exemption certificate, she needs to ask her doctor's surgery about this.
