It's probably just anxiety. If your health care professionals have ruled out a true heart condition, anxiety can cause rapid heart beat, palpitations, and even shortness of breath. Maybe you should see your primary care physician and discuss treatment for an anxiety disorder. Good Luck!

Since your EKG was fine, then your have reassurance. It is quite common to have a fast heart beat and even palpitations from time to time. Watch your caffeine intake. Are you experiencing more stress than usual? Any family history of heart problems?? High Blood Pressure?? If so, decrease your salt intake, eat healthy, exercise etc. If there was no physical cause found, then relax, it can be a very normal occurrence. I hope that this helps.

Karen,

It may have been nothing but your fear of hospital's that started your heart beating more rapidly. If it showed that everything was fine with your heart, try not to worry. I also have palpitations and have had them for over 30 years. They use to scare me, but now know after many heart tests, that things are fine with my heart.

I believe that aren't many of us that actually like hospitals, so be a little easy on yourself...of course, your heart was beating faster. If you are concerned about this, I am sure that your doctor would be glad to talk to you and reassure you.

Glad your tests were normal. Thank goodness. Be well, dear...

My son had this regenerative feedback when he was a teenager. His Doctor gave him an ECG, and while it was going, he, my son looked at the machine and the pens started jumping wildly. That from being scared.

Do not sweat it if the doctor;s say you are okay, and remember, we are all under managed care until we get to the grave.
If you know where you will spend eternity, don;t sweat it.
