I feel so fortunate to live in the Seattle area! I ride bike to commute to work and it's 35 miles round trip. On the trip I pass through so many amazingly scenic places and most of it follows along a creek that turns into a river further on. The trail I take also passes by Lake Washington at one park that's just an amazing stop to take a break, get some water, and enjoy the view of the lake. There's another spot on the trail that's by the stream that every morning has ducks, geese, chickens, and rabbits all along the sides of the trail (well, pigeons too)! Seriously, they're all there every morning! I saw a coyote far off in the distance through some fields on the way home one afternoon!

Lengthy description, but the bottom line is that I'm so fortunate and rave about my commute because I get the opportunity, every day, to just see the beautiful side of nature and it's always exciting to see! It's refreshing and I feel like I'm a part of it all, something I never felt being behind the windows, doors, and walls of my cars. I've been to Tonga, Australia, NZ, Europe, and throughout the US and there are beautiful places all over, but the fact that there is so much that is so amazing right outside my door is just breathtaking everyday!

Climbing mountains is energizing and rejuvenating. Watching the sun set or rise from the peak is always memorable and incomparably breathtaking. The clouds is mesmerizing also. Always at the peak.
The waters is a good source of energy too. Watching fishes in the corals is enough reason for you to go back.

missed badly from 1500 miles away: the beaches on the south shore of lake superior.

probably ANY spot of sand and water would do to soak the tootsies, but over THIS one i have seen day dawn and end. have viewed aurora borealis reflected in her watery gaze. have felt the icy tug of nature's power steal all breath from my lungs and all feeling from my extremities: it's not as terrifying as you'd think when your in the arms of a friend. truthfully, there's no other way to appreciate nature's POWER until you experience everything it can do to you if left unchecked.

revitalizing, recharging, serene yet violent in her moods, gitchee gumee has played a huge part in her people's lives dating back centuries: a form of transportation, a spirit that still dwells there for some, an inspiration for poets and lovers, and a vulnerable friend who needs more help than we can possibly muster to fight off pollution and invasive species. it's this combination of roles that appeals to me.

soft white sand... blue crystal waters (but not the teal of warmer climes: more of a navy blue changing to green then grey.) imagined loves and real ones lived and lost here - from the edmund fitzgerald to the first european missionaries to the native ojibwe people, all whispered in the sigh of the wind. i can hear them all.

Geeee, (belladonna) and (patzky99) are describing so beautifully, things I cannot touch...
I live in Texas and have no access to mountains, beaches, forests, or any thing lovely...
I only see these things of beauty if I decide to travel on vacation time...

I am going on vacation in October when it is cooler this year and my husband and I are going to the Aspen, Denver, and Colorado Springs, Colorado areas for a week...
I want to see the Rocky Mountains and we will visit friends...
We are driving so we shall see some sights once we get out of hot dry Texas...

I am looking forward to that...
I have always loved mountains and snow...
So now the mountains call me to come again to see them...
