Human Papilloma virus is a the causing agent of both genital warts and cervical pre-cancerous, as well as cancerous lesions. It is important to distinguish between which types of HPV you have because different types are associated with different presentations. HPV 6 & 11 are known causative culprits for cervical cancer; and individuals should be followed with yearly pap smears. Viruses such as 16, 18, etc are usually causative agents of genital warts. Genital warts are painless skin growths in the genital region that can be spread by simple skin-to-skin contact.

When you tell your partner(s) about having HPV, be prepared to explain to them what it is, since many are unimformed, or even worse, misinformed. Guys usually are unaffected by the effects of HPV 6 & 11, but they can easily pass it along to other girls, putting them at risk for cervical cancer. There is no cure for HPV, and current vaccines protect against those types that are not yet infecting an individual.

You should know that HPV has been shown to be capable of being transmitted in spite of condom use. Therefore, even with condoms, transmission can occur. Just talk to your partner about, acknowledge the potential for risks, but the relative safety of these infections in guys along with the responsibility one has to everyone else regarding STDs. In long term you will benefit from having someone who accepts this and from maintaining a non-promiscuous lifestyle, if ever that is the case. Most importantly, and finally, don't see it as a stigma, it's is the most common STD, often invisible, leading to no known acute illness. It's effects are those of genital warts which can be removed, along with cervical cancer which can be prevented with good GYN follow-up.

You should just be honest with him. Tell him that you recently had a pap test, and that you tested positive for HPV and that he should go get checked out. Also, even though you already have the virus you should consider getting the HPV vaccine, since it is possible that the type you have is different than the types the vaccine guards against.

not telling your partner of you STD status could be illegal in your state. there are many cases of people going to jail or facing lawsuits because of this. be sure to always use a condom and be honest with your partner.

Good gravy, your problem is that you've had sex with way too many people. You wouldn't be in this situation if you had enjoyed a few less men.

Just be honest with him. He needs to know. If it ruins your friendship, then it's your own fault. And don't ever have unprotected sex until you are married. It's just safer that way.
