I always buy the chocolate that has the animals on the wrapped, part of the profits goes to support endangered animals. Either that, or I buy chocolate made from cocoa that's grown in a natural rainforest enviroment, so that no pesticides are used and it doesn't polute the rive water, therefore not poisoning any animals. If I only buy these kinds of chocolate, I can still eat it, right???

I'm not vegan (yet) so for the time being I still eat milk, eggs, and honey.

Just about any chocolate bar is vegetarian, though Mars started putting rennet into their bars, then stopped, so some of them in stores have rennet and others don't. I don't know if you can tell which is which from the labels.

It is good to buy fair trade (i.e. - no slavery, fair wages) chocolate so you're not supporting modern day slavery, and organic for the reasons you listed. Fair trade chocolates say they are fair trade right on the wrapper, and I'm pretty sure those Endangered Animals chocolates you're talking about are fair trade last I checked.

I haven't seen many chocolate bars that aren't vegetarian. I do want to kick the idiots who put dairy in dark chocolate, though (I'm a vegan). What's the point?

There are tons of brands of chocolates that are fair trade and/or organic. I love Green & Blacks, Chocolove, and Dagoba.

As far as I know, Endangered Species Chocolate is fine for vegetarians, and the dark chocolate varieties are fine for vegans.

You can eat whatever you want, there is no chocolate police.

However, if you wanna eat vegan, then read the ingredients and look for milk, milkfat, nonfat milk, casein, whey, anything derived from milk. Even dark chocolates have milk in them, which is ridiculous. Why put milk where it's not wanted? The consumer isn't picking milk chocolate, they're picking dark, sans milk. I don't know why some manufacturers do this.

Anyway, if you wanna eat vegan chocolate, read the ingredients and choose accordingly.
