herpes is a DNA virus of the family herpesviridae. It has lots of subspecies including HSV1, HSV2, CMV, EBV. Herpes simplex 1 causes oral ulcers, HSV2 causes genital ulcers, Epstein Barr virus can cause cancers. It depends on what kind of information you're looking for. Health class teaches you the basics: it can be sexually transmitted, there's no cure but it's treatable etc...
