Apparently so... I've done it and I'm still alive.

Seriously, a diabetic can eat anything as long as the carbs and sugars are kept in check.

A new Israeli study suggests that pomegranate juice could offer health benefits for diabetics, despite the juice containing significant sugar concentrations. Drinking 6 ounces of pomegranate juice daily may protect diabetics from developing heart disease, according to a new study. In pomegranate juice, the sugars are attached to unique antioxidants, which actually make these sugars protective against atherosclerosis.

A Diabetic can eat anything, the question is, is it good for the Diabetic. If the portion is correct it would fall into the fruit category and checked to see if it's going to dump a lot sugar on you at one time or stay with you like potatoes? If it dumps surgar on you all at once, like candy, stay away from it, if it lasts all day or dissolves slowly your okay. Most fruits that a Diabetic should stay away from have sugar added while canning or packaging. Whole fresh fruits have no sugar added can can be consumed in moderate per portions by a Diabetic, this would include Papaya as well.
