I have a reciepe that calls for "Cream Coconut". I went to Wegmans last night and they had several types of Coconut Oil, which looked like a creamy paste. Anyone have any recommendations?

I purchased the cococut oil in the grocery section. The container had "for cooking use" on the side. My meal was probably healthier with/out the coconut paste, and still tasted pretty good.

Thanks for all the answers!

Coconut oil is different from cream coconut. Oil is available both as liquid form or as cream. Liquid form can be used to apply on hair (as used in India) or can be used as cooking base. Oil available as cream can be used as only hair cosmetic.

Whereas Cream coconut is thick coconut milk which is extracted by running coconut with water in a grinder or mixer.

No it is not the same. Most of the time, Cream coconut comes in a can like can foods. And it is like a really thick milk from the coconut. And coconut oil is just oil from the coconut.

They are not the same, but depending on the recipe you could use coconut milk in tinned or powdered form. Did your coconut oil have any recipes on the packet - you did find it in thr food section?

Cream of Coconut is actually sweetened. It's used in Pina Coladas, so if you can't find it in the baking section, try looking where they keep the drink mixers. Comes in a can.

attempt searching for coconut cream on the Asian save. i'm Asian and as quickly as we cook dinner with coconut milk it extremely is the two thick or skinny so i'm guessing coconut cream is undiluted coconut milk or organic milk. If the factors on your coconut milk lists water then i'm very almost advantageous coconut cream is undiluted coconut milk from the 1st pressing.
