No special effects. Mechanical energy does not have to be machine energy, it just has to be not heat energy and not electrical energy and so on. It is just energy of position and motion. A person walking is using mechanical energy.

Mechanical energy includes things like trucks, fork lifts, lawn mowers, overhead cranes -- all sorts of things that can cause industrial accidents. These can have rather adverse effects on people like broken bones, lacerations, missing digits and limbs, and major trauma. It all depends on *how much* mechanical energy. This is why safety programs develop "lock out/tag out" programs.

It powers almost anything manmade that moves, and your muscles and bones use mechanical energy to move you when you walk around or lift things.
