Then why in 2002 did they euthanize 1,325 of the 2,103 animals they "rescued"? That's more than 60%. By those numbers, it dosen't seem like PeTA is very interested in saving animals at all.

BECAUSE SOME ANIMALS WERE TORTURED TO THE POINT OF NEVER RECOVERING ..AND ETHANASIA IS MORE HUMANE THAN JUST ALLOWING THE TO DIE SLOWLY

First off PETA does not have their own shelter facilities. They team up with local shelters to assist with rescues. PETA is not a buisness it is a charity that educates, assists, and funds. It does not operate animal shelters or conduct any form of medical proceedures themselves. The shelters probably found the animals to be suffering and thought it was more humane to Euthanize than make the animals suffer. You would be surprised but this is actually a rather small percentage compared to how many animals are Euthanized per year. I know there was a case in Kansas where a woman had 210 Basenji's that were malnourished and all had infections. Only 12 where able to be rescued and nursed back to health. The others were suffering far too much to try and keep them alive. Know your facts before you judge.

Well, I'm not a huge PETA supporter, but I've read that back then they were really against people owning pets. I think they might have changed a little since then. I was looking for vegan shirts the other day and came across their site and they have a lot of things for dogs and cats on their catalog. I supppose they've changed their views on how they see pets now so I don't like to judge them on what happened then.

What they did was meant to be ethical though in their strange way of thinking back then. Since they were against people having pets, I suppose they thought it was better if the animal was just put down. I don't agree with that at all, but again, PETA has done a lot of good with promoting veganism and has changed their views on pets so I wouldn't judge them based on just that horrible incident. They seemed to have reformed a bit since then.

Nazis were funny when Mel Brooks, Charlie Chaplin and the 3 Stooges made fun of them.

You aren't any of them, so your choice of a name and avatar are not funny.

I can't even remember your question now.

I know a great site, hope it works for you.

www.myspace.com/
thetruthaboutpeta.

There's some information on the site, but if you have any questions, you can send the owner of the site a message via myspace. If you don't have a myspace account, there's no need to make one, you can send her an email instead! She's really nice. I hope you find what you're looking for! Good luck!

Not all vegans/vegetarians are associated with PeTA. I know I'm not. I'm vegan for me, and I always will be.

By the way, I'm of Jewish descent and your avatar is incredibly offensive. Go choke on a lemon.

This is the "vegetarian and vegan" section of the "FOOD and DRINK" section

PETA questions would be best posted in animal welfare or somewhere.

Just because we are veggies does not mean we support PETA, they are animal welfare activists....If you want to question PETAs ethics, why not ask them ??

Although I personally think Hitler was crazy insane (which is worse than regular insane...), and think the Nazi party had the worst political platform since the current Democrats... Yes, PETA is completely unethical, and also rather insane. Watch the episode of Penn & Teller: Bulls**t on the subject for proof. (example: they're even against the use of seeing eye dogs to help the blind...)

Because they're agenda is to make people feel bad and piss people off, it has nothing to do with animals.
