I have only been vegan a little over 48 hours now, and I feel great. I am just wondering, besided B12, what are some other things that I should make sure I get enough of that are particularly found in meat? Thank you all for participating!

Duh, protein is not a vitamin deficiency. Some people, sheesh.
The most common deficiencies are B12, iron, calcium, zinc, vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids.
Just eat fortified soy milk, eat lots of dark leafy greens and orange fruits and vegetables, nutritional yeast, walnuts or flax, and get lots of sunlight.
Good luck on going vegan. <3

Actually the only dificiencies to look out for are the same as with a meat eating diet. As long as you eat a variety and a balanced diet you shouldn't have to worry about anything. Some of the stereotypical dificiencies are protien, vitamin b12, and iron. Protien is abundant in so many things it is rediculous, b12 can be found in soy milk, potatos, and carrots. Iron is very abundant in spinach and green leafy veggies. So long as you get a wide variety you will be fine. Don't let propoganda scare you. People will make up any excuse not to become vegetarian but do your research and don't let them persuade you from making the decision you want.

The vitamin you should be worried about is B12. Since you are a vegan, and consume no animal products or by-products, you're going to have to take vitamin supplements. You should also watch out for iron (which you can get from dark, leafy greens) and protein, of course (which is a lot easier to obtain!) Good luck!

Just whatever vitamins you find in the meats that you used to eat. They can be replaced easily with other things, I too just decied to become vegan 48 hours ago, lol, how weird.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to worry about protein. That's a huge myth. You'll be fine.

Watch out for vitamin D. That's a very common undiagnosed deficiency, in omnivores and vegans alike.

I suggest taking a vegan multi-vitamin. I think everyone should take a multi-vitamin, though, omnivore, vegan, or somewhere in between.

Take a daily multi-vitamin and you have to remember to get your daily intake of protein. Either from a power to mix in a drink or better yet, forget the mother thing, and have some eggs.

Iron. A balanced vegan diet will provide you with everything you need. Iron is not particularily difficult to find, however, if you dont get it you may become anemic.
