Take whatever is in season in your area in terms of vegetables, slice it and marinade it overnight as a salad.
Any vinegar-based dressing will do as the marinade. Everyone likes Italian and Good Seasons is great, mixed at home.
Green Beans, carrots, zuchini, celery, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, green onions.
Avoid beets as they will tint everything pink (unless you'd LIKE to see that).
Good luck and have a great time!

I have a family reunion tomorrow too! You really can't go wrong with some sort of dessert. You can always make some nice brownies or a little cake or banana pudding or something. If you want to make a big side dish, then you can always make a simple lasagna or a macaroni and cheese bake! [you really can't go wrong with mac and cheese!]. You can always carry some sort of bread. If you don't feel like making bread you can always go to the grocery store and pick up a round pan of Hawaiian Bread that should be near the loafs of bread or muffins or something. [it is really good, sweet bread]

I've got a family birthday party/bbq this weekend & since my garden is running over with cucumbers, I'm making a cucumber salad that is quick, easy & yummy!! Slice up several cucumbers semi-then & place in large bowl. Add a good size onion, thinly sliced - a red onion or vidalia is good. Add a couple of teaspoons of mustard seed, some white vinegar & sugar, Stir together well & let marinate in fridge for at least 12 hours before serving.......Goes great with everything!!

If you have a long way to drive, take something that doesn't have to stay hot or cold like brownies, cookies, a cake, etc. If you don't have far to go, you could take any type of main dish and keep it warm in a crock pot. Here are some ideas:
BBQ meat balls
sloppy joe meat
BBQ pulled pork for sandwiches
mac and cheese
BBQ ribs
little smokies
cheese dip for nachos
