Studies were recently done comparing the accuracy of blood based ELISA and Western Blot tests witht he new saliva based tests, such as the OraQuick HIV test, and they showed that the saliva test was about 98% sensitive and 98% specific for HIV, which is jsut about as good as the blood based tests, that are 99% sensitive and 99% specific.
