there is grouse. So I am on here now. My concern is I have a family history of heart problems having an uncle that died from a heart attack about my age, I am 38, and a granddad who died of a heart attack too, as a blood clot traveld to his heart and he died straight away. My grandmother, died of a stroke as a blood clot went to her brain and the 3rd of 4th stroke killed her. I also have a brother who is 28 and a dad who has heart trouble. My dad has a pace maker now. Anyway my concern is my diet is horrible, I eat toasted cheese sandwhiches most of the time with lots of butter and coon cheese and lots of chocloate. I have a bad diet and find it hard to change it. Tonight while haveing dinner with my sister while eating chicken, I started getting buring pain on my left hand side of my boob that lasted for about 60 seconds. My sister was more interested in watching tv and all I said to her was I better stop eating junk. I did not tell her at the time I was getting the pain.

Now yesterday I was drinking some fluides and got up to put my plate in the sink and when I got up my heart was racing so fast and it felt like I weighed a ton, and felt like I ran a marathon. Do you think I am at risk of a heart attack or heart diease? My ultrasound of my heart was normal about 2-3 months ago. So I do not understand this. If you have any advice for me that will be great. I have not had a cholestrol level checked for awhile. I know it will be interesting. I find it hard to change my diet. Concerned here.

I have to say, with a family history like that, yes, you should be very concerned.
Blood work is a better indicator of your heart condition than an ultra sound. They can check cholesterol, HDL LDL, CK ect, to see if you are eating well enough, if you are in danger, and if you have already done damage.
Change is hard, and diet change is very hard, but you need to change your diet and get some exercise. There is lots of good advice on the net on effecting change and you should take it seriously, this is a life and death issue for you. Do it now, while you still can, instead of after your first heart attack.
You might also consider speaking to a psych professional, both to help you with change and with any anxiety issues you may have, as racing heart may be a sign of a panic attack.
Please know that you can do this, you CAN change! Today could be the first day of a new life for you, if you want it!

an ultrasound of your heart isnt what you should be having checked... an mri or a cat scan of your arteries is... my blood pressure is excellent, my cholesterol is low, i am not obese and have no history of high blood pressure, i am not diabetic and by all the ekgs and echocardiograms i am perfect... but guess what... i just spent 6 days in the hospital to find out i have plaque build up on the inside of one of my arteries - part of which broke off and got lodged in a toe - cutting off its blood supply... i am lucky it didnt go to my heart or lungs or brain because i would have killed me - the same way that strokes have killed people in your family... clots are different than having a heart condition - you can have a clotting condition or a plaque condition (both of which untreated can kill you) but have a perfectly working heart... i had to have a stent placed in my iliac artery to restore blood flow to my right leg and foot and have been put on plavix to keep down the build up... i am 35. chest pain is a bad sign - it could be a heart attack or it could be a clot or piece of plaque getting lodged in an artery or vein... please get a doctor to check you out for a clotting condition or arteriosclerosis. my choice is stop smoking or lose my legs... sounds like yours is change diet or lose your life... it is your choice to make... personally, i am quitting smoking.

(btw, i dont have any heart conditions or anything else but my family history - my grandfathers died from stroke and heart attack, my dad from cancer and congestive heart failure, my mom from cancer and all had high blood pressure, 1/2 diabetes, and all high cholesterol)

with your family history you are obviously at risk. you really should get a cholesterol done soon.
women display heart attacks different from men. women frequently complain of belly pain, back pain, jaw pain, shortness of breath, nausea, general weakness or pain down the left arm. all of these can be single symptoms or in combination. they also come in with the classic chest pain.

now i have a question for you.. what is more important to you?
eating well and living or eating poorly and making a good looking corpse?

i hate to be so blunt... but with your family history it is more of a risk than i would want to take.

1. You must change your diet if you want to be healthy.
2. Start exercising regularly.
3. See a doctor if the burning continues.

You need to get into your doctor ASAP. I would even go to the ER and have them do an EKG. Noting your family history, it sounds like you have a death wish with continuing to eat as you are.

if i had a family history like you, id be seeing my cardiologist regularly and getting EKGs, if u know your history why arent u trying to stop it? eating unhealthy and not excersizing is going to make it where u get a bad heart like your family did
