coughing....especially in kids is a good sign of asthma. Do you get short of breath too? There lots of triggers for an asthma attack, maybe if it is asthma, you could work to figure out whats triggering you attacks and eliminate the source. Go to the MD and get opion and an inhaler.

It could be that some of the acid in your stomach is getting out into your lungs when you lay down. A temporary solution is to prop the head of your bed up by putting a stack of folded towels under your mattress. The head of your bed should be up enough that you can feel the slope, but not so much that your mattress slides off your bed. This may give you some relief.

Seeing a doctor is a good idea with your symptoms. Stomach acid getting into your lungs (called acid reflux) can damage your lungs and cause asthma. Ask your parents what to do if your stomach or throat feels like it's burning. Some Tums might help with that temporarily.

If it's just lying down that causes it, and not that it's nighttime, it may be acid reflux going up into your upper esophagus and throat. Try elevation like the first answerer suggested. Also try not to eat anything for at least two hours before lying down. If it persists longer than a week total, see a doctor.

Sounds like post nasal drip, its nothing to worry about if thats whats causing your cough, its mucus from the sinus in your nose, it drips into your throat when you are trying to sleep especially, ask your mom for a antihistime overthe counter for kids, that should dry up the mucus and stop the drip, then you will stop coughing if this does not work, It can hurt to see the doctor. Hope this helps.

it may be asthma but it also might be just your bronchioles. i do the same thing. its just breathing issues. if you go to a doctor they might give you an inhaler just to use before bed to open your airways a little more. you can also try different things like putting 2 pillows under your head, or not using a pillow at all.

You're too young to be coughing because of reflux (GERD). Probably not asthma. Could be related to bronchitis - the cough is mainly at night ("while lying down")
