Many doctors are now saying that it's not for life for 90% of people, or atleast you will not be contageous for life. Once your immune system gets the virus under control, your body can eradicate the virus. This seems to hold true for most people, but not all.

There is no pill to prevent genital warts. There is a pill (several actually) that can be used to HELP prevent genital HERPES outbreaks, but not genital warts. HPV (the virus that causes genital warts) and genital herpes are two VERY different viruses and are treated differently.

There are creams like Aldara and Condylox that can be used to treat genital warts. These creams are available with a prescription from your doctor.

If these creams don't work or the doctor doesn't want to try them, the doctor might suggest applying medication at the office. This is done by the doctor, is done in several visits and can be pretty expensive. Some of the medications that can be used include: Podophyllin resin (Podofin), Intralesional (injected into wart lesion) interferon, Fluorouracil (Efudex, Fluoroplex), and Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or bichloroacetic acid (BCA).

A person can also have surgery to remove genital warts by freezing (cryosurgery), burning (electrocautery), or laser treatment. Surgery is occasionally used to remove large warts that have not responded to other treatment.

Although treatments can get rid of the warts, they do not get rid of HPV, so warts can recur after treatment. The body's immune system typically clears the virus anywhere from 8 to 13 months, but it occasionally remains in the body for a lifetime.

not that I know of... if they did then I would take it...

but warts usually only flare up if your stressed or if your immune system is low (due to too much alcohol and smoke)

I stopped smoking and try and keep the levels of stress down and I haven't had an outbreak for a few years now... but you have HPV for life unfortunately

Edit: they can only be removed by freezing/burning them off by the dr... not the most comfortable thing to have done
