For a 14th birthday party, I'm having a beach bash and bonfire. it will start in the afternoon (2-3-4ish, I haven't decided) and go till' 10pm or so. I am looking for activities to do during the day hours (before dinner). Any ideas for a scavenger hunt list at the beach?? This would be at the end of September/into early October.
Other ideas are appreciated as well.

The list of things to find:
1. 1 whole unbroken shell.
2. 2 pieces of seaweed.
3. 3 piece of garbage (help clean up the beach)
4. 4 broken shells

It would be cute if you gave numbers for each item so they have to find numerous amounts of one item.

activities: volleyball, boogie boarding, team relay races (it could be hard to run in the sand) Provide fishing poles...first person to catch a fish, sandcastle building contest, horseshoes, football, frisbee, Give prizes for the largest sandcastle, most detailed, most creative!!

This site has a list of 6 different scavenger hunt parties. Take a look at them to see if one would work at a beach setting. You might get some ideas by looking at the beach parties at this site also.

ahaha one time at a choir beach party the boys went way early and burried a watermellon deep in the sand and we had to find it before we could eat =D
the fun part was they gave us clues like "its by tower seven and seven"((tower 14) or "its this deep"(they showed a picture) and a bunch of other silly clues.

thats just one idea but you could also go to sites online for scavenger ideas =]
