Idk, I love being vegetarian, and wish that I could tell people I didn't know, but with all the malice, annoying questions, and jokes I just want to never bring it up. Why when you stop eating meat is it such a big deal? I mean, shouldn't WE be the ones hating on them? like..I find meat reaally gross. like ew; I can't even imagine why someone would CHOOSE to stick that nasty stuff in their bodies!
So what's the deal meat-eaters..why the hate?

I wasn't (and don't) hating on meat eaters. What I said was pure opinion. I just think its sick..but, by all means, do what you want!
But yes, you're right: it mos def can be a two way street there.

The deal is that meat eaters (like myself) don't need vegetarians harping on about their choice. It's THEIR choice to be vegetarians and we respect that so vegetarians should respect OUR choice to eat meat - we don't need you to keep lecturing us on how nasty it is etc, etc

Maybe deep down the meat eaters know they're probably wrong and veggies are probably right, so they take it out on the veggies. The only thing a meat eater has on a veggie is taste, and that's only because they're used to eating meat. If you took that person and made them vegetarian for a given amount of time, they'd probably not like meat anymore. As far as health, the environment, world hunger, etc...veggies win hands down.

Perhaps I haven't being paying enough attention, but I've never noticed anybody hating me. Many of the people I know haven't even noticed that I'm a vegetarian because I don't bother to mention it unless I have to and I'd never try to push it upon anyone else. And I couldn't hate anyone just because they don't share my lifestyle.

Well, i've never ( other than this forum where people do not exhibit thier normal behaviour for some reason ) been insulted or preached at by a meat-eater.
Perhaps its the way you talk to them ?
Harry might want to try and understand that we include "death" as mistreatment in our moral values

Hi Kat, I don't like a lot of meat myself. If we have steak not very often because of high prices anyway i have a very hard time eating steak. I may take 4 may be 5 bites and that's enough for me. I think i would rather be a veg. Are you allow to get chicken and fish if you are a veg?? I have no hate towards Vegetarians at all. What ever way a person wants to eat is their business (No One Else). Lol Lol

well, meat is a major source of protein, so most will say mean things b/c they think it is better for you. i don't hate vegetarian/vegans, i might have been 1 if i could, but some people can't. i know this girl that tried to become a vegitarian and got really sick, so she wen to her doctor and he said you can't b 1 b/c you have been a meat eater for so long your body can't get enough nutrients. oh, and you don't hunt cows. they take the to a slaughter house and they get shot through the head with a 5 inch long bolt (a bolt is like a really big nail)

I eat meat, but I'm helping my friend go veg. I just don't like the vegenazis who come to the food section. This site is used for all food lovers to share recipes and discuss food related items. I am annoyed at PETA coming here and talking down on us. Plus I think two of the cutest girls in the politics sections are veg. I might add you as 3.

What are you talking about...? I don't hate on you... if you want to be a vegetarian, go for it. Personally, I can't stand living without meat, so I commend you for being able to do what I can't. It's just that I can't stand being in your place... but no animosity whatsoever as long as you're fine with letting me be an omnivore in peace.

Unfortunately, this behavior can be seen on both sides-best to just unobtrusively go on about your business.
After all, the only reason you might have to tell someone you are a vegetarian is if they invite you for a meal at their home.
