Yes, I am vegan and I love it. Remember that being vegetarian or vegan is a lifestyle choice. It means that you do not support or consume anything that is made from animals. It's not just food: it's clothing, health and beauty products, and other things that animals are used for.
I'm a man in my early 30's and have been vegetarian for four years, vegan for two. I can tell you that it is the single best thing that I have done "for me" in my life.
Once I dumped the meats, my digestive system improved tremendously. Once I dumped the dairy, I felt better within a week. I don't get allergies (to everything) like I used to. My cholesterol is a whopping 140. My immunity bounces back much quicker than before. I don't feel sluggish or as emotional did before (milk products contain hormones). I stopped breaking out and having oily skin. I lost weight.
The best health benefit I get can't be measured - it is in my soul. I feel better about who I am. I dont have animal suffering on my consience.
Congratulations on being a vegetarian for so long. I only wish I had become vegetarian earlier in my life. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't know any different from what they grew up with, and it's for that reason why I say thanks for asking this question.

I've been a vegetarian for a year and a vegan for just over one month. I always thought vegans were extemists but I've done more research now... If I knew of the cruelty involved in producing dairy and eggs I would have become a vegan a long time ago but sadly I only found out a month ago.
I haven't been ill since becoming a vegetarian which is suprising because I used to get ill all the time.

I'm a Lacto-ovo-vegetarian and have been since I was 11, I will be 28 in August 07,after a trip to brownie camp where they made me strip a cooked chicken (got a phobia of bones) and then a trip to France with primary school where the beef burgers weren't cooked through and was very ill on sweet and sour pork! Put me off BIG STYLE!!!
Up until recently not eaten eggs on there own for quite some time as couldn't stand the thought of them,I only eat them cold after being hard boiled mashed with mayo and scrambled but even that is hard sometimes I just can't face them.
I couldn't live with out cheese and milk, I can't eat yogurt as they make me ill, and I don't like the taste of proper butter!!
Health wise I've gotten tubby but that's beacuase of too much pizza and too much wine going on a diet to try and shift some of it!!!

Although i call myself a vegetarian, i do eat fish. I think the technical term is pasco-vegetarian. Although I dont always like eating fish, I make sure I eat plenty as it is a vital source of protein for me and I think is important in a balanced diet.
Let me tell you the story of how I became veggie. I was nine years old and I had just watched the film 'Babe' when straight after the film ended my mum called me for tea. Can you guess what we had? Sausages! I couldnt bring myself to eat them after that and decided to give the vegetarian diet a try, Ive now been veggie for 7 years and Ive never looked back!
Healthwise, I feel great. Fish is supposed to be great for the brain, so it helps me with my studies.

I'm a vegetarian on the the edge of vegan. I've been vegetarian for over a year now. I feel pretty good and don't get sick very often at all. I don't consume any animal product by itself. I don't eat anything with cheese in it, no jello, no ice cream or any pure dairy product. The only foods I eat that aren't totally vegan are cookies, soft pretzels, veggie corn dogs, and cake. I'm having a difficult time letting go of those foods but vegan cookies are really good. I think I'll finally become a real vegan this year.

I'm vegan; I have been so for almost eleven months.
I have had so many health benefits through going vegan. I have lost unhealthy weight, I have more energy, I can survive with less sleep and without using caffeinated products.
Since going vegan I have had one cold, down from at least four per year (I work as a cashier, I'm always handling dirty money and getting sneezed or coughed on by very sick shoppers), and one stomach ache, down from around one per week. And that stomach ache was caused by accidentally eating crackers with dairy in them.

I have been a vegetarian for many years, since my teens in fact. I never eat any`dead flesh` at all, not red meat or white meat or fish or fowl. If it has a face or a heart that beats I do not eat it. I will eat `side products` of a live animal, like eggs or milk, the animal does not have to die to give these foods. Otherwise I eat mainly vegetables and fruit and nuts and natural un-processed foods. I am rarely ill, I don`t even get colds or `up-set `stomach.
Edit: Nuts and pulses contain protein and calcium and most plants contain minerals. It is possible to obtain all the elements required for a healthy mind and body, without eating meat.
